A. Introduction
1. Description
This module is designed to provide materials about greeting card.
This module presents the materials to enhance your knowledge
about what greeting card is, its social function, text structure and
language features, as well as how to compose an attractive
greeting card for some occasions such as birthday card, graduation
card, thank you card, condolence card, wedding wishes card,
achievement card, holiday card, and get well card.

2. Relevance
Do you know how to create a greeting card? Can you easily find the
example of greeting card for certain occasions or events? Can you
grab the information from the greeting card around you? Have you
ever tried to make one of greeting cards? If you have no experience
in applying the social function of greeting card for certain
occasions with its text structure and language features, this course
will definitely help you much to develop your comprehension and
to emphasize your creativity in creating an attractive greeting card.

3. Learning Guide
This teaching material is expected to help students to analyze the
social function, text structure, and identify the language features
of greeting cards for certain occasions, with giving and asking
information related to special days, based on its using context.

1. Learning Outcomes

A) Attitude
To uphold and apply religious values, moral values, ethical values,
personal and social values (honesty, discipline, accountability,
independence), care and respect for differences and diversity,
tolerance, peace, collaboration, and nationalism.

B) Knowledge
The students be able to analyze the social functions, text
structures, and language features of greeting card for certain
occasions.

C) Skills
The students are expected to be able to:
1. Comparing the social functions, text structure, and language
features of special text in form of greeting card for certain
occasions such as birthday, graduation, thank you, condolence,
wedding, achievement, holiday and get well card.
2. Applying the social functions, text structure, and language
features of special text in form of greeting card for certain
occasions such as birthday, graduation, thank you, condolence,
wedding, achievement, holiday and get well card.
3. Composing the special text in form of greeting card for certain
occasions such as birthday, graduation, thank you, condolence,
wedding, achievement, holiday and get well card.
2. Learning Materials and Learning Activities

Learning Materials

1. Definition
Greeting card is a card or text containing certain expressions sent to
someone or people in certain moments.

2. Social Function
To congratulate, to wish or to show sympathy for someone.

3. Text Structure
Greeting card is a short text in which usually consists of 3 main parts:
a. Receiver:
whom the card is sent to, consists of recipients' name

b. Content:
- Quotes (Wishes from the sender)
- Picture (Illustrations related to the special day)
- Expressions (Congratulation or sympathy expressions)

c. Sender:
- the name of the one who sends the card
- it is usually made attractively designed with accessories,
pictures, symbol related to the events

4. Language Features
a. Salutation (Salam) : Dear, Hi, Hello, ...
b. Greeting Expressions (Ungkapan selamat) : Congratulations, ...
c. Wishing Sentence (Kalimat harapan) : May you..., Hope you...
d. Complimentary Close (Penutup) : Regards..., Your friend...,
