Abstract
We hoped to establish a relationship between the temperature of the RTD and the consequential
change in resistance due to the air flow from the pump.

Introduction
This apparatus involves the use of two RTDs to understand the effect of air flow on heat loss
through convection process and consequently its effects on the resistance of the RTDs. Of the
two RTDs being used one is heated through an external sources and the other is not. Results
showed that the temperature drop due to the same air flow was different for both RTDs.

Procedure
 Connect the circuit and then set the GAIN of the amplifier# 1 to 10 and GAIN FINE
control to 1.0. check that the pump is in OFF condition.
 Set the digital multimeter to the 20v range.
 Switch ON the power supply.
 Switch on the HEATER and allow the temperature to stabilize.
 Adjust the OFFSET control of amplifier #1 for zero output continuously during this time,
setting the GAIN to 100 when stabilized conditions are approached.
 Check that the OFFSET control is set for zero output voltage.
 Use the digital multimeter to note the voltages at the –ve and +ve outputs from the
transducer and record the values.
 Switch the pump ON and note the voltages again when conditions have stabilized record
the values.

Conclusion
This experiment successfully demonstrated the effect of change in resistance of the potential drop of
the RTDs. Also showcased was the varying drop in the temperature due to the change of pump flow
velocity.
