2. Why are identifying targeted audiences and the purpose of communication important
when selecting a communication method? And provide one example. (PC 1.1 PE 2)
We all know that one of the biggest gaps in the most diverse corporate environments is
communication failure. This happens because, in most cases, people who are part of the
company and business, in general, are not aware that it is necessary to transmit information
clearly and objectively, so that the execution of processes organizations are as assertive as
possible.
Thus, creating this awareness and this habit in everyone, regardless of the positions held,
makes the processes run smoothly and the demands are carried out much more easily, thus
making it much easier to reach the objectives and extraordinary results.
When it is said that each individual is unique, it is not said randomly. Each person has their own
construction of meanings, which is guided by a whole cultural load acquired throughout their
existence. In other words, people do not act the same, as their ways of thinking are based on
cultural and particular issues.
Thus, the way of expressing yourself, the choice of words, the tone of voice or the means used
in communication influences both the way the listener will interpret the message received and
the way this message will be transmitted.
Because of this, it is important to understand who your recipient is, so that you can
communicate with them in a way that is easier for them to understand and also so that your
message is received exactly the way you transmitted it, no dubious interpretations in the
future.

3. You are the operating manager of Link Telecommunication Pty Ltd and are required to
plan an orientation session for new employees. The company has the following policies and
procedures:

• Visual communication is recommended

• Chart and graph are recommended for interpreting figures
• Jargon or slang are prohibited in a presentation or orientation
• The presenter should respect the others who have a different cultural background
• After the presentation or orientation, Q&A session must be given
• Individual consultation should be encouraged

As the operating manager, you must consider the above policies and procedures and
consider three options as follows. Evaluate each communication method by completing
the following table. At least two points are addressed to each method (PC 1.3 PE 3 KE 1, 3)

4. From the scenario in Question 3, the company previously used a lecture-style
orientation for new employees and the HR manager wants to have the same style orientation
this year, but you do not agree with the HR manager. Explain the limitations of the lecture
style and recommend how the drawbacks can be overcome. (PC 1.2 PE 2)
As we are talking about new employees, I believe that they need to feel embraced and
belonging to the company, with the use of the lecture methodology, employees will not have
this feeling. The lecture is something too cold to welcome new collaborators, they need a
method for interaction.

5. After the orientation, one of the new employees requested a confidential meeting to
discuss their physical disabilities. In the meeting what are some potential barriers that you
may have? Provide details of relevant legislation. (PC 1.4 KE 1, 7)
Physical barriers are structural obstacles in natural or manmade environments that prevent or
block mobility (moving around in the environment) or access. Examples of physical barriers
include:
• Steps and curbs that block a person with mobility impairment from entering a building
or using a sidewalk;
• Mammography equipment that requires a woman with mobility impairment to stand;
and
• Absence of a weight scale that accommodates wheelchairs or others who have difficulty
stepping up.

What the legislations says:

Further, anyone who has physical disabilities must not be unequally treated under the
‘Disability Discrimination Act 1992’ and businesses (employers) must provide equal
opportunities to those who have disabilities and appropriate alternative communication
method must be given.

6. From Question 5, recommend possible solutions to minimise any negative impact on

the meeting? (PC 1.4 KE 7 PE 8)
To minimize problems in meeting;
 there should be a translator
 engaging listeners
 use of form communication methods
 explaining pints in depth
Part B – Case Study
Read the following scenario and complete Questions 7 to 9: Scenario A company is planning
to design an advertisement. This company is now about to commence a major sales
promotion and consider using Social Media Networks. As this is a new approach to the
targeted customers, the company needs to set up policies and guidelines for Social Media
Networks.
7. From the scenario, identify benefits of using social media networks for the sales
promotion. (PC 2.1)
Although it takes a little longer than a direct sale, it has a low customer acquisition cost, as it
consists of investment in relationships. Perhaps, the great advantage that motivates the focus
on social selling is the fact that, in one way or another, your brand, product or service will have
greater engagement with the public, bringing users closer to your company and values.
Among the benefits of social selling is the improvement of the relationship with the consumer.
Through strategy, the brand can create genuine bonds with the customer. Furthermore, the
social media environment is capable of concentrating customers that were previously difficult
to access for the brand. When approaching a niche company with relevant content, for
example, the customer tends to show more interest in the products and services offered.

8. From the following policies, select all policies that must be applied to the Social Media
Networks. (PC 2.1, 2.2)

9. The company also wants to make sure that the advertisement effectively influences
the targeted customers. Recommend ways to ensure that the message of the advertisement
successfully delivered to the targeted audience. (PC 2.3 PE 3)

understand easily
 Communicate a simple, single message.
 Stick with a likable style to attract more customers
 Be credible.
 Ask for the sale.
 Make sure the ad is competitive and out standing
