PHRASAL VERBS (FRAZALNI GLAGOLI)

up, down, off, on out, back, itd).
trees have been cut down.), ali najčešće ona ima preneseno značenje. Na primer, down
označava smanjenje veličine, broja, snage, itd. (We must cut down the expenses. – Moramo
izvršenje radnje: The house burnt down in an hour – Kuća je izgorela za sat vremena. Često,
partikula modifikuje značenje glagola u tolikoj meri da značenje celog fraznog glagola nije
moguće predvideti na osnovu njegovih elemenata, npr. I’ll turn in early today. – Danas ću
rano leći / ići na spavanje. Frazni glagoli su najčešće višeznačni. Mada su frazni glagoli
odlika neformalnog registra, danas se oni sve češće koriste u poslovnoj komunikaciji. U tabeli
