Homework: Understanding the appearance of cancellous (spongy) bone

on a radiograph.

Read your textbook and for homework fill out the chart about the appearance of the cancellous bone when
comparing areas of the mouth on a radiograph. You will find the answer in your powerpoint for Week 3.

Reminder:

 Trabeculae is the bone that appears radiopaque on a radiograph.


 Marrow spaces contain blood vessels and soft tissue. This appears radiolucent on a radiograph.
Area of the Mouth Describe the Trabeculae Describe the marrow
(the bony parts) as: spaces as:
