Based on today’s video lecture and Richardson’s reading, how might the

concepts and contexts explore inform your mathematics teaching? What

new possibilities do you see for math teaching in the early years?

After video lecture and reading, I realize that our environment is a great
opportunity for early years to explore the concepts of math. Math trail is
a walk to discover math around young children, and A math trail can be
almost anywhere. Young children would enjoy having walked the trail
and doing interesting math learning in their walk. Therefore, the Math
trail is an interesting way for young children to explore our environment
and learn math at the same time. During the walk, children would
increase their awareness and sense of math concepts, such as
numbers, shapes, patterns, and sizes. It is a meaningful way of math
education for children to learn math outside of school. Math can also be
practiced in our everyday routine, for example, asking children what
shape of a pizza, the number of apples they have. Math is everywhere in
our life, and Math can be learned in different locations, not only in
school. The knowledge and concepts of math are easy and fun for young
children to learn in their daily lives.
