7KE85 Fault Recorder
What do we need to equip the 7KE85 to measure Grid-Code conform?

List of material:
• 1x FB - PQ 10/12cyc = 25 FP
• 1x FB - PQ Flicker = 25 FP
• 1x FB - PQ Trend = 25 FP
• 1x FB - PQ 10/12cyc Har = 25 FP
• 1x additional CR (Continuous recorder) = 25 FP
• 1x FB PQ 150/180cyc Har (only PQ Class A) = 25 FP

Sum of Function Points per Measuring Point = 150 FP

Practice: Equip a new 7KE85 by PQR in DIGSI5
Page 22 Unrestricted | © Siemens 2021 | Energy Automation and Smart Grid | Markus Kraft | 2021-09
Workflow essential 4 steps

Preparation task:
1. Add a second continuous recorder
2. Add a Trend recorder
3. Expand Information routing by:
• FB PQ 10/12cyc
• FB PQ 10/12cyc Har
• FB PQ Flicker
• FB PQ Trend
4. Information routing to specific recorders
• Voltage
• Frequency
• Unbalance
• Flicker
• THD
Load configuration to device

Page 23 Unrestricted | © Siemens 2021 | Markus Kraft | 2021-09

Step 1 Add new device

A fault recorder with application template related parametrization.

Per default the following three recorder mechanism are available:
• one Fast-Scan
• one Slow-Scan 1
• one Continuous 1

The FG VI 3ph 1 is covering the trigger settings and recorder routing.

This section will not be touched by expanding PQ Recording.

Page 24 Unrestricted | © Siemens 2021 | Markus Kraft | 2021-09

Step 2 add an additional continuous recorder for frequency measurement

The second continuous is necessary because the Grid-Code requests to

measure the frequency in 10 second average values, all other characteristics
like voltage, unbalance, THD…in 10 minutes avg values.

I recommend to rename the recorder to avoid wrong assignments during information routing process.

The recorder “Cont 10 Min AVG” needs to get an averaging time parametrization of 600 sec.
The recorder “Cont 10 Min AVG” needs to get an averaging time parametrization of 10 sec.

Page 25 Unrestricted | © Siemens 2021 | Markus Kraft | 2021-09

Step 3 add a trend recorder for flicker and voltage event measurement

Drag and drop the Trend from DIGSI Library.

Rename now also the label Trend to Trend PQ.

There is no parametrization necessary for the Trend recorder.

The final recorder constellation, now ready for Power Quality recording

Page 26 Unrestricted | © Siemens 2021 | Markus Kraft | 2021-09

Step 4 information routing

For Power Quality it is important that the Rated voltage setting in FG VI 3ph1 is correct,
because that value is the reference baseline for all PQ measurements!

Page 27 Unrestricted | © Siemens 2021 | Markus Kraft | 2021-09

Step 4 information routing

Drag and drop the PQ Function Blocks:

• PQ 10/12cyc
• PQ 10/12cyc Har
• PQ flicker
• PQ trend
into the Recorder routing VI
