What’s New (Comprehension Check)

1. What things amazed the author during his cultural immersion to Japan?
- The author was in awe of everything in Japan. But what most surprised him was
the simple orderliness, with no justifications for delay or mediocrity. Japanese
folks are incredibly diligent and tenacious. They view their universities as sacred
spaces for learning where cutting-edge technology coexists with ancient wisdom,
as well as the vibrant metropolis of Tokyo where people simultaneously visit local
shopping centers and temples.

2. How do modernity and culture blend in Japan?

- Japan's ancient culture is still intact despite the country's modern advancement. To
name a few, modern technology coexists with traditional Japanese culture, busy
people go about their daily lives with devotion, and the vibrant metropolis yet
welcomes the ethereal temples.

What Is It.
1. Pick one of the places you listed in Activity II in What I know.
– Arangasa Island at Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.
2. Describe the Place.

The serenity views of Arangasa Island in the town of Cagwait, Surigao del
Sur. Arangasa Island is one of the most beautiful places in Cagwait, Surigao del
Sur. This is the perfect place where we can bond with our friends, family, or work
colleagues. A perfect getaway to unwind and experience nature with a secluded
beach resort that offers the true beauty of nature and the best of its sand, clear
waters, and coconuts.

3. Write your impression of the people and their culture.

- At first, when I had never been to Arangasa Island, I was afraid that there
might be bad people on this island or that it might be dangerous to go there, but it
turned out that I was wrong because when I first went to Arangasa Island, I
enjoyed it so much that I realized that my thoughts about this were wrong. After
the first time, if we need a place to unwind, we come back to the island over and
over again. Arangasa Island has good people; they are approachable, and they
will help you when you need something or show you where to go. You will not be
afraid to ask questions because, if you meet them, you will see that they are
ready to help if you need anything. I can see in their eyes that they love helping
people.

What’s More (Activity)

This time, I want you to practice writing from the things that you have listed under
the Activity in What Is It. Try to combine them by writing a paragraph or
paragraphs of the details.

The Beautiful Island in Cagwait

Cagwait Surigao del Sur, has an island called Arangasa Island. Arangasa

What I Have Learned

1. I learned that a travelogue is a piece of writing about travel; a talk or lecture on
travel usually accompanied by a film or slides; a narrated motion picture about
travel.
2. I realized that travelogue becomes part of Creative nonfiction in the sense that
you are asked to write creatively using the true information that you have
encountered in your travel. Travel essay could be primarily informative, offering
worthwhile information to readers who wish to be travelers or tourists just as a
hobby.
3. I will apply everything I've learned in this module to my everyday life and pass it
on to the new generations I meet.

What I Can Do. Create a slogan promoting the tourist spot in your place.

“"YOUR DREAM VACATION AWAITS IN THE

CAGWAIT"

Assessment
Write your own travelogue. Recall the place where you have travelled and which you
consider as the best place you have been to. Be able to apply things and the techniques
that you have learned in the discussion. Refer to the rubrics below on how your work
shall be assessed.
Discovering the beauty of Alameda Farm

Surigao del Sur is a place where each town has a different variation of
Surigaonon. As you travel and hop in different towns you can see different versions of
‘welcome‘ and ‘thank you for coming‘ along the road. We call some waya-waya, waza-
waza, and my dialect is Tandagaonon use wara. The southern part speaks kamayo,
and some speak Bisaya-Cebuano especially those towns near Agusan del Sur. We
know what part of Surigao del Sur a man is from the way he speaks. You might think
this is too confusing to us, but we manage to understand one another despite the
slightly different languages.
We also have a lot of forest with waterfalls and open space. I must emphasize that
we have a lot, and we have no idea how many are currently being found or will soon be.
Although Surigao del Sur may be an undervalued travel location, once you witness its
magnificence, you will realize that it is not ordinary. The best I have been to within
Surigao del Sur is Alameda Farm; I went there with my friends in February 2020.
Alameda Farm brings you the amazing beauty of nature and its alluring overlooking
views in the mountains of Surigao del Sur. When looking for a truly unparalleled
experience in the Caraga region, Alameda Farm is a landscape to behold. It is not just
your ordinary farm; rather, it is a blend of mother nature flaunting her charm and grace
for both sight-seekers who are into agronomy and those who are not. Owned by Manuel
O. Alameda Sr., he decided to develop his 10-hectare farm into a tourist destination and
take farming to a whole new level. The acreage is cradled on top of Sitio Hamburger
Hills, Barangay Gata, San Agustin Surigao del Sur, East of Mindanao, Philippines.
We went there using the car of our friend's family. Aside from the various fauna
and organic flora we have seen, the farm offers other features such as a panoramic
viewing deck, where you can see a vast tropical rain forest while gazing at San
Agustin’s very own Britannia Island coastlines. In fact, the viewing deck is a perfect
location for a sunrise or sunset wedding. We went there early in the morning, and we
decided to bring cooked food along with us; luckily, they have cottages for picnickers.
So as to say, we had a satisfying brunch by the farm. For thrill seekers, the farm has
various rides, such as sky biking, which costs around 230 PH/head, an ATV ride for 100
PH/head, and a zipline. The Alameda farm has a part of the farm that has many
animals. When you enter, there is an entrance fee of 50 pesos, which is affordable yet
enjoyable. We saw many animals that I can only see once or only on TV, so I really
enjoyed that time. We almost went to all parts of the Alameda Farm to make the place
worth our while. OverallOverall, Alameda Farm was worth traveling to and staying at,
and it is indeed worthy of being included on one of your bucket lists.
Additional Activities
Take or cut a picture about the place in your TRAVELOGUE write-up in Assessment.
Paste it in your notebook and write a short caption about it.

In this part of the Alameda Farm, couples usually take pictures.

This is one of my favorite parts of Alameda Farm; there

are many umbrellas here, and because of them, the view
is so beautiful.
The view here is so relaxing that singles can take
