ENGINEERING GRAPHICS & DRAFTING (FTL 173)

Time Allowed: 3 Hrs. Max. Marks: 80

Note: candidates are required to attempt five questions, selecting at least one question from
each section. The fifth question may be attempted from any section.

SECTION A

Q1: Construct a plain scale of 1 cm = 1 m to read meters and decimeters and long enough to
measure up to 14 meters. Show on this scale a distance equal to 12.6 meters.

Q2: Draw chain thin line, continuous thick line, dashed thick line, dashed thin line, and write
applications.

SECTION B
Q3: Draw the projections of the line of the following points on a common XY line keeping the
distance between the two consecutive projectors as 15mm.
a) 35mm above HP and 35mm in front of VP
b) 35mm above HP and 30mm behind VP
c) 40mm below HP and 30mm in front of VP
d) 30mm below HP and 40mm behind the VP
Q4: A line AB 50mm long has its end A 25mm above HP and 25mm Infront of VP. The line is
inclined at angle 45 to VP and parallel to HP. Draw the projections.

SECTION C
Q5: A rectangle ABCD 30*60 is perpendicular to VP and inclined at angle 45 to HP draw the
projections of plane.

Q6: Construct a diagonal scale of 1:50 to show meters decimeters and centimeters and long
enough to measure up to 6 meters. Also indicate on this scale a distance of 4m 5dm and 4cm.

SECTION D
Q7: A square lamina ABCD of 30 mm side rests on its corner C in HP. Its plane is inclined at
angle 45 to XY line such that its Diagonal DB is parallel to the HP and inclined at angle 30 to the
VP. Draw its Projections When its corner D is towards the VP and 15 mm in front of it.

Q8: A hexagonal pyramid side of base 25 mm and height 65 mm rests on the HP with two edges
of base parallel to the VP. A cutting plane parallel to HP cuts the pyramid at height of 25 mm
above the base. Draw its front view and sectional top view.
