Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

INTRODUCTION

Rationale of the Study

Teenagers this day has the eagerness to pursue and finish their studies

even if students and their parents are suffering from financial instability. Students

want to pursue their studies regardless of the increasing cost that is attached to

education, having a part time job while studying is the only solution to solve all the

expenses in pursuing their studies (University of Don Honorio Ventura, 2020).

Nowadays, some students are doing online selling as their part-time job to

earn money. Online selling is a form of E-commerce where by consumers directly

buy goods or services from a seller over the internet. E-Commerce (electronic

commerce or EC) is the buying and selling of goods and services on the internet,

especially the World Wild Web (Tech target, 2007-2012). Online selling while

studying has a big responsibility to students that they consolidate to earn money.

Taking part-time jobs through online selling is to have profit to pay for their needs

in school and to reduce the burden of their parents. This kind of scenario has been

a risk for every student that is working at the same time, but there are many kinds

of benefits while taking a part-time job at the same time studying. Aside from the

benefit of their families they also have self-benefit that can help grow and gain

working experience. Moreover, students that have an online business are the

people who have self-confidence that want to be independent themselves

(Parreñio, 2022).
2

In line with this, students who were balancing a full-time academic load

along with a part-time job were likely to suffer from stress. According to Robotham

AD. (2012), students working part time job affects health, cause constant stress,

anxiety and social integration deficit. This includes changes in energy, lack of

sleep, appetite, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, difficulty concentrating, and

feeling sad, empty, hopeless, worthless, or guilty (Cefai & Camilleri, 2021).

According to Anderson (2013), most of the students are now experiencing lack of

time, suffering from stress and because of that their academic performance is

being affected of the all workloads that students are now encountering. This proves

that time is very precious for all of the students that have a part-time job. Students

must not waste their time to successfully hold their job while they are in school.

Students must know how to spend their time wisely and also must be expert in

time management skills and organization (University of Don Honorio Ventura,

2020).

The effects of online selling as part time job among the students academic

performance and health constitute the subject of this report. Although it is widely

known that many students are having part time job while studying, but only few

knows about the challenges of such employment. According to Latini (2020),

students would like to spend large proportion of hours a day to work at their part

time job rather than spending time studying. Moreover, Latini (2020) also stated in

another research that working part-time more than 20 hours per week will impose

a negative effect on the students’ academic performance. Hence, this study aims

to know the effects of online selling as part-time job to the academic performance
3

and health among selected senior high school students and formulate an action

plan based on the results of the study. This research mainly focuses on Sibonga

National High School students.

Conceptual-Theoretical Background of the study

The theoretical base of this study is anchored on the Signaling Theory by

Basoglu and Hess (2014). This theory provides a conceptual framework for

business information and is continuing to gain popularity because the Internet

offers a low-cost means of distributing timely financial and nonfinancial information,

as well as displaying nonfinancial content like images, presentations, videos, and

social media features of the products. Online selling may have an impact on

students who use these types of businesses as their part-time jobs. The process

of involving a student in a certain type of business (online selling) without fully

understanding how that business might actually affect consumers' opinions of its

credibility is represented by signaling theory. Additionally, the signaling theory

perspective offers a framework for examining the facts regarding the impact of

online selling on students. This theory enables a test of how a particular person

who is required to adhere to the experience of part-time work would help them find

employment in the future, and the latter fact emphasizes the significance of a part-

time job for students who might not be as well served by the educational system

as those who are high achievers. The researchers in this study have taken the

theories as their foundation to assists in streamlining the study process and

providing clearer understanding by using theoretical approaches that make it

simpler to find information.

Review of Related Literature

This chapter reveals the related literature and studies of the major concerns that

relate to the study. There are researchers who gave extensive varieties of studies

that emphasized the effect of online selling as part time jobs among selected

students. The researches put into account different related literature that could be

considered in acquiring profound comprehension of the study.

Part Time Job

Part-time job is a type of employment that carries fewer hours per week

than full-time employment, according to the International Labor Organization

(2003). If a worker regularly works fewer than 30 or 35 hours per week, they are

considered to be working part-time.

The number of working hours varies by country when it comes to part- time

employment. In Australia (2007) part-time employees are those who works fewer

hours than their full-time counterparts within a certain industry, and the majority of

the time worked is less than 32 hours per week. In Canada (2007), someone who

typically works fewer than 30 hours per week at their primary or only job is regarded

to be working part time. Almost the same, according to the Bureau of Labor

Statistic, work between 1 to 34 hours a week is considered to be part-time

employment.

Part-time workers might not be entitled to the same benefits as full-time

employees. For instance, part-time workers in the United States are not entitled to

employee benefits like health insurance as of 2009. Based on the definitions

6

provided above, it can be concluded that students with part- time jobs are those

who work less than 20 hours per week while they are enrolled in classes.

Online selling as part time job

The web has become an opportunity for the marketers to offer value to

products and services. The Internet's and the World Wide Web's remarkable

expansion and expanding popularity have turned into a key to luring more

customers and businesses to engage the benefits of Ecommerce (Aldin, et al.,

2014).

Due to this, online selling became more and more popular among social

media users, including the growing number of teens who are interested in online

selling and shopping.

According to Stacy Zeiger (2019) asserts that operating an online business

is greater than opening a physical store. One of the best methods to generate

money online is by selling products online. In fact, it's a fantastic strategy to quickly

expand your target market and build your business. "By placing your firm online,

you are also increasing your reach worldwide," Anderson (2013) said. It's crucial

to review some online selling advice and tips that could make for effective sales.

As a result of the popularity of online selling, students find it a great

opportunity to have it as their part time job while they are still studying. Ronald

D’Amico (1994) states that part-time job "provides opportunity to acquire increased

responsibility, authority and cooperative reliance. Part time job helps students build

their networking abilities, which will be useful for future job prospects. Those who

worked part-time jobs while studying may be preferred by employers because it

7

shows better managerial abilities. Also, there is a good chance that students who

worked part-time while in school will continue working for the same employer after

graduation.

The effects of part time job to the students health

The effects of part-time job on full-time students health have been

investigated in a wide range of studies. Based on the research of Gorgulho, et al.,

(2012) one of the disadvantages of being a student while holding a job is that they

are often short on time and commonly find themselves with limited time to study,

sleep, and maintain healthy eating habits and one of the main complaints among

working students is that they find themselves without enough time to eat right

instead of consuming healthy foods, such as fruit and whole grains, working

students often grab a quick meal comprised of low quality foods that contain sugar

and high sodium. This is not to say that students should feel discouraged and not

work while in college, but instead be mindful of the commitment and plan

accordingly. For example, students who work every day night benefit from a 7-day

food preparation technique at the beginning of every week.

According to Jogaratnam and Buchanan (2004) that new students who

chose to work a part-time job while carrying a full-time load of school works were

more likely to experience stress and sleep deprivation. As numerous studies have

indicated, students' physical and mental health might be negatively impacted by

combining full-time study with part-time job. As online seller students had to find

suppliers, customers, and have classes at the same time while adjusting to

schedules became challenging. This also refers to the students' sleep schedule,
8

which were complicated by their inexperience with the online platform industry

and their complicated schedule. This is in line with the claim made by Teixeira et

al. (2015) that tiredness and shorter sleep duration can have a negative effect on

high school students' quality of life, health and academic development. This may

be a result of a work effect, which reduces the amount of time available for sleep

and shortens the amount of time spent sleeping. The working students appear to

be working during the day according to set schedules and studying or completing

schoolwork at night.

The effect of part time job to the students academic performance

Concerns on the effect of part-time jobs towards students' academic

performance do not come out of thin air. Most researches indicate that there is a

detrimental effect on academic achievement if secondary students work for over

15 hours a week (Stern, 1997). Such students have lower grades, do less

homework, are more likely to drop out, and are less likely to enter post-secondary

education. Those students who work fewer hours suffer several negative

consequences.

These finding are supported by a Toronto study (Cheng, 1995), showing

that students working more than 20 hours had a 16% dropout rate, and those who

worked longer than 20 hours has even bigger dropout rate of 33%. According to

Singh (1998), in his study which factored in socio-economic status and previous

achievement, states that the more hours worked the greater negative effects on

student achievement. The consequences for young students working longer hours

could be more severe than for older students (Barone, 1993). Many students who
9

work find some problems balancing school and work demands (Worley, 1995).

Many who work part-time have limited participation in extra- curricular activities

(Hope, 1990). Many researches indicating that employment have negatively

affected students' academic achievement stated that an increase in the amounts

of hours worked of the most influence factors (Watanabe, 2005).

According to Furr and Elling (2000), 29% of students worked 30-39 hours

per week and 39% of those students worked full time had negative impact on their

academic achievement and progress. The common believe in the society suggests

that, because the energy and time spend at work, students would be detracted

from studying, which in the end result in low GPA. Most studies conclude that this

is only the case when the student's number of hours worked per week exceeds 20

hours.

Intriguing findings have been put forward by The National Center for

Education Statistics (NCES) (1994), which is run by the U.S. Department of

Education and Marx and Dundes (2006). NCES found that students working 1-15

hours weekly have a significantly higher GPA than both students working 16 or

more hours and students who do not work at all. The NCES is the primary federal

entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education. Dundes and Marx

(2006) reported that 74 percent of student-workers believed that employment

forced them to become more efficient. Despite this fact, it is also reported that 64

percent of students working part-time also have a higher of stress level.

Many sources concluded that working less than 15 hours per week had little

or no effect on students academic achievement. Following an in- depth study of

10

the topic, included in the journal of human resources. Ehrenberg and Sherman

(1987) stated, "We do not find any strong evidence...that hours of work during the

academic year in the range that student worked significantly reduced grade point

averages."

Other studies concluded (Astin, 1975) that only on-campus employment

had a positive influence on academic performance. Astin reported that the effects

of on-campus employment were characterized as positive in nature, while off

campus student employment is associated with lower GPA. The positive effects

of on-campus employment are due to enhanced integration with the institution

including involvement with other students and with faculty (Furr and Elling, 2000).

In addition, on campus jobs often include responsibilities with academic

components.

Time Management Plan

The overall lifestyle of online seller students in the online selling platform

is the process of how they must manage time wisely, such as time management

plans (Esmail et al., 2022). The online seller students' time management was a

handicap to their business and academic load since their classes are not

convenient to the schedules of their business. They should handle the time

management skill well in handling both school and part time job. Online seller

students have different ways to manage their time. Firstly, they can develop the

ability to deal with and manage their studies while working. This observation

corresponds to Oettingen et al. (2015) that with effective time management,

11

students can stay on top of deadlines and manage their workload efficiently.

During their time for work, the online student sellers can work on their schedules

since they had all prepared their items in advance and managed their work

adequately. Nonis et al. (2006) indicates that students who work are more self-

confident and have better time management abilities than those who do not.

THE PROBLEM

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to know the effects of online selling as part time job to the

student academic performance and health among selected senior high school

students of Sibonga National High School.

Specifically, it answers the following set of problems:

1. What are the effects of online selling as part time job to the students health?

2. What are the effects of online selling as part time jobs to the students academic

performance?

3. Based on the findings, what intervention program maybe proposed?

Scope and Delimitation

The scopes of this research are the senior high school students of Sibonga

National High School of any academic track and started on the month of March

2023.

This study focused on the effects of online selling as part time job to the

students academic performance and health among selected senior high school.
12

The number of respondents were limited in Sibonga National High School; this

research covers only those senior high students that are doing online selling as

their part time job and currently enrolled at Sibonga National High School. As the

study present factual data gathered, through survey questionnaire about the

effects of being online seller as part time job among senior high school student in

Sibonga National High School. The succeeding discussion is the limitation of the

study. Moreover, the period of time when the survey questionnaire was given, it is

considered as one of the limitations in the study. For the reason that all of the

respondents have equal time to answer the survey questionnaire that was given a

time of 5-10 minutes only for every participant. And the respondent was 20 persons

only.

Significance of the Study

This study aims to know the effects of online selling as part time job to the

students academic performance and health among selected senior high school

students of Sibonga National High School.

The findings of this research will prove useful to the following entities:

Students. The direct recipients of this research are the students especially

those who online seller. The findings of this study will beneficial the students in a

way that they will be aware of how online selling as part time job affects their

academic performance and health.

Parents. This study may help the parents to be more aware of their children.

To make them understand their daughter/son situation so that parents can help
13

the students to cope up with their unfinished business in school and also with

students’ part time jobs.

Teachers. This study will aid the teachers to help the students in terms of

academic approaches. Teachers will see the struggle which online seller students

experience by this, teachers will consider the situation of every online seller

student, especially they are coping with their requirements from time to time.

Future Online Seller Students. This will be beneficial to the future online seller

students through this they will be aware of the effects of online Selling as part time

job in their academic performance and health.

Future Researcher. They will be guided in conducting further research about

the effect of online selling as part time jobs among the students.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methods in obtaining the information and comes

with procedures used by the researchers. It discussed the research design,

research instruments, data gathering techniques and data analysis.

Design

This research study focused on the effect online selling as part time job to the

student academic performance and health among selected senior high school

students.

The researchers opted to use a qualitative research design as it provides a

deeper understanding of the experiences, attitudes, and perceptions of the

participants towards the topic being studied. Qualitative research design allows the
14

researchers to explore the subjective aspects of the phenomenon being studied,

which can lead to the identification of unique insights that may not be captured by

quantitative methods alone. Moreover, the qualitative approach is particularly

suitable for studying topics that have limited previous research or are relatively

unknown, such as the impacts of online selling on senior high school students. The

researchers can use this method to generate new theories and hypotheses, which

can guide future studies on the same topic.

Environment

The study was conducted at Sibonga National High School located at R

Bacaltos, Poblacion, Sibonga, Cebu. Sibonga National High School was

established on January 01, 1947. Sibonga National High School was the first ever

school that was created here in Sibonga, Cebu. (20) students that are online seller

from Sibonga National High School will be chosen to represent the population of

the online sellers.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of this study involved only the selected senior high school

students from Sibonga National High School who are doing online selling as their

part-time job. The researchers conducted a prior survey and get the number of 20

respondents from different strand of Senior High School. Specifically, 8 students

from Grade 11 and 12 students from Grade 12 that serve as the respondents of

this study to answer the survey questionnaire provided by the researchers.

Instruments

A questionnaire was written in a list of questions that were answered by the

15

respondents in order to provide data that will be used in the study. The

questionnaires were checked by the research adviser and will be passed on for

approval by the officials of the school. The questionnaires were designed for

assessing the effects of online selling as part time job to the students academic

performance and health among selected senior high school students. The

researchers guarantee that the questionnaires were applicable for Senior High

School students of Sibonga National High School only.

The first part of the questionnaire was the Demographic Profile of the

respondents which consist of name, age, and strand. The second part was the

assessment of the respondents towards the effects of online selling as part time

job to the students academic performance and health. It was composed of the

questions that were based on their experience as online seller students.

Furthermore, the confidentiality of the answers and personal information of the

respondents was secured. Only the researchers will read and use the information

gathered.

The data will be analyze using thematic content analysis method, outcomes

have been processed. Ezzy (2000), describes this type of data analysis method as

a bridge of analyzing data by sorting its classification through themes, concepts or

similar features. In reducing and classifying a large amount of data into a more

meaningful unit for interpretation, the procedures employed are primarily designed

(Singleton, 1997). Marshall and Rossman (1989) in De Vos (1998) informed the

steps of this method used in developing themes and included the following

procedures.
16

Organizing data:

To organize the data of large quantity, it will be organized by sorting out the data

gathered, putting it in folders and naming the folder. Using this will save time,

reduce errors and enable the researcher and others to understand the entirety of

the data. Practical methods and processes are used, having consistency is also

required and to be familiar with the data; the researchers carefully and repetitively

read the transcribed data.

Generating categories, themes, and patterns:

In this stage, it requires a creative and analytical mindset. The researcher then

identifies the most relevant subjects, recurring idea, and designs of belief, which

helps with the integration of the results. Noting patterns in the research participants

is included in the process of category generation. As categories of definition

emerged, the researcher will look for those that were internally consistent but

distinct from one another. Patterns, themes, and classifications are uncovered.

Testing emergent hypotheses:

Whenever classifications and patterns between them become relevant in the

information, the researcher at that point assessed the believability of these creating

speculations and testing them against the data. Valuing the information for their

informational adequacy, validity, value, and centrality was included.

Searching for alternative explanations:

In this stage, the researcher has the capability of challenging the patterns that

were identified as being apparent as the patterns and categories between them
17

combined in the data. There were alternative explanations that were reasoned and

described until the researcher reached and understood the details that are most

coherent and acceptable among all.

Report the results:

In presenting the results' report, the researchers elaborated the meaning of raw

data and gave the importance of the study through shaping and interpreting it. The

raw data was understood and shaped appropriately to have no misunderstandings.

The researchers also gave important various varied data or reasons that can be

acceptable in some ways as well. Thus, the results and meanings of the data are

conveyed thoroughly.

Data Gathering Procedures

A letter was sent to the principal of Sibonga National High School to allow the

researchers to conduct the study in the said school. When the request was

granted, the researchers personally conducted the survey questionnaire to the

respondents of the study. Prior to the answering of questionnaires an instruction

was given to ensure honest, clear, and complete answer. Each item in the

questionnaires was explained clearly for the student respondents to understand

each question. To ensure that the questionnaire serves its purpose, the

researchers personally retrieved it immediately after answering. After gathering all

the necessary data it was interpreted and organized according to the research

questions and survey questions. This way, it will be easier to see the patterns and

direct responses from the information.

18

DEFINITION OF TERMS

In order to have an easy and understanding for the readers, the researcher

define the following terminologies according to how it is used in this research:

Effects refers to the consequences of the student actions and decisions.

Academic performance refers to the measurement of student achievement

across various academic subjects.

Health refers to the state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing and
not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Online seller refers to a person that uses digital means to sell products, goods, or
services to buyers locally or internationally.

Student refers to a person who is formally engaged in learning especially one who
is enrolled in a school.

Part time job refers to a form of employment that carries fewer hours per week
than a fulltime job.

Online selling also known as e-commerce is the buying and selling of goods or
services over the internet.
19

Chapter 2
PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter has been formulated to answer the research question keeping the
literature review and research findings from the survey in consideration. The
findings and discussion will be organized based on the sequence of the statement

"The negative effects it gives towards my health is I got

stressed, unbalanced diet, and unbalanced lifestyle"
20

Table 1 reveals the students’ responses on the effects of online selling as

part time job towards their health. Based on the student’s answers, 15 out of 20

respondents confirmed that they become physically active and able to sustain their

vitamins are among the positive effects, this strongly supports the study of

University of Rizal System (2021) that the money they earned support their needs

like food, medication and other expense. Furthermore, 17 out of 20 students

answered that they experience lack of sleep, forgot to eat, stressed, and tiredness

are among the negative one, this finding is also in line with the study carried out

by Jogaratnam and Buchanan (2004), stating that students who choose to do a

part-time job while having full-time academic load were most likely to suffer from

stress and sleep deprivation. Further, it has similarity with the study of Optimism

and risk for Job Burnout (2015), when they are exhausted and tired in juggling the

work and school stress becomes the main setback in which affects the students.

Further, the study of Breeze et al., (2010), states that lateness is synonymous with

"tiredness" which implies being slow to act or slow to respond, thus not meeting

up with proper or usual timing. As the researcher found tiredness is one of the

effects in being part-time student, tiredness occurs when they are exhausted in

work and school. As many studies suggested, indeed a combination of full-time

studying and part-time working can cause a damaging effect on the physical and

mental health of students.

The Effects of Online Selling as Part Time Job to the Students Academic

Performances

In research question number 2, the focus is on the effects of doing online

21

selling as part time job while studying to the respondents Academic Performances.

The findings show that doing online selling as part time job both has a positive and

negative effects to their academic performance.

22

Table 2 reveals the students’ responses on the effects of online selling as

part time job towards their academic performance. Based on the respondent's

responses, it is confirmed that 18 out of 20 respondents were able to finance their

academic needs, gained experience and knowledge, improves socialization and

communication skills that they can apply at school are among the positive effects.

This strongly supports the study of Endsleigh (2015), that state part time jobs are

the best option for students as it helps them in their financial needs in school as

well as Green (1987) stated that they [students] had gained job skills, experience,

and knowledge of a variety of jobs, a sense of accomplishment, a feeling of

responsibility, and money for personal and school expenses. Furthermore, 20 out

of 20 respondents also experienced having hard time focusing with their studies

that they can no longer perform efficiently on the given task assigned resulting on

unfinished and late submitted activities. This is inline in the study of Curtis and

Shani (2002), they believed that students who are working part-time would most

likely miss lecturers with a lot of lessons to catch. According to Karim, Sevari, Mitra

& Kandy, 2015) part-time job affects the students' academic performance because

of so lacking of time to do their academic activities as it reduces the time available

for educational activities and could therefore lead to lower educational

achievement.

The Intervention Program based on the Findings

The last research question is intended to know the possible action plan

that maybe propose base on the findings. The findings shows that most
23

respondents are experiencing negative effects of online selling as their part time

job towards their academic performance and health, thus the researchers will

coordinate to the school SSC organization to conduct a seminar entitled

"Enhancing Students Time management" as our propose action plan to give

solution to the negative effects of online selling as part time job to the student

Academic Performances and Health. This plan is supported by Oettingen et al.

(2015) that with effective time management, students can stay on top of

deadlines and manage their workload efficiently. During their time for work,

the online student sellers can work on their schedules since they had all prepared

their items in advance and managed their work adequately. Nonis et al. (2006)

indicates that students who work are more self-confident and have better time

management abilities than those who do not.

Chapter 3

SUMMARY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter deals with the summary of findings, conclusion and

recommendations of the study.

Summary of Findings

The following are the significant findings of the study:

1. Online selling as part time job both has a positive and negative effects on their

health, they became physically active and able to sustained their vitamins are

among the positive effects, while they also experienced lack of sleep, forgot to eat,

stressed, and tiredness are the negative one.

2. Online selling as part time job both has a positive and negative effects on their

academic performance; It is confirmed that they were able to finance their

academic needs, gained experience and knowledge about business while it also

improved their socialization and communication skills that they can apply at school

are among the positive effect, while they also experienced having hard time

focusing in their studies that they can no longer perform efficiently on the given

task assign resulting on unfinished and late submitted activities.

3. The findings shows that most respondents are experiencing negative effects of

online selling as their part time job towards their academic performance and health,

thus the researchers will coordinate to the school SSG organization to conduct a

seminar entitled Enhancing Students Time Management as our propose action

plan to give solution to the negative effects of online selling as part time job to the
25

student Academic Performances and Health.

Conclusions

Based on the above summary of findings of this study, the researchers came

up with the following conclusions:

1. Some students from Sibonga National High School are online seller.

2. Online selling as part time job both has a positive and negative effects on the

students Academic Performances and Health (Moris Triventi’s, 2014)

3. Online Selling as their part time job support their needs like allowance, vitamins,

foods, and other expenses, this strongly supports the study of Endsleigh (2015),

that state part time jobs are the best option for students as it helps them in their

financial needs in school.

4. Online Selling improved their socialization and communication skills. Students who

are working part-time can easily develop team cooperation, customer care,

communication, and practical skills (Lucas & Lammont, 1998; Curtis & Lucas,

2001).

5. Online Selling as part time job help the students gained experiences and

knowledge about business which supported by Green (1987), it is stated that they

[students] had gained job skills, experience, and knowledge of a variety of jobs, a

sense of accomplishment, and a feeling of responsibility.

6. Online Selling as part time jobs has negative effects to the students Academic
26

Performances and Health this includes, lacked of sleep, forgot to eat, stressed,

tiredness, cannot focused with studies and unfinished activities. According to

Karim, Sevari, Mitra & Kandy, 2015) part-time job affects the students' academic

performance and because of lack of time to do their academic activities and taking

care of their health.

7. Online selling as part time jobs has negative effects to the students academic

performance and health, in order to engaged with them, respondents are

suggested to learn time management, schedule all the necessary things to do and

know their priorities (Oettingen et al., 2015).

Recommendations

In line with the findings and the conclusion drawn from this study, the

researchers suggest the following recommendations to which hope to be beneficial

to the concerned individuals.

1. For Students, it is recommended they should know all the positive and negative

effects that they might encounter if they ever think doing online selling as their part

time job while studying. They must know how to manage their time and they should

maintain their academic performance. Being a part time online seller student is

difficult, thus they must have patience and eagerness to achieve their goals in life.

2. For the parents, it is recommended that they must have time to talk with their

children. In this way, they will notice the actions of their children. As a parent, help

and guide them with their problems, give them an advice and motivate them.

3. For the teachers, they should learn to understand the situation of the
27

students who are doing online selling as their part time job because they encounter

different positive and negative effects which affects their academic performance

and health. They must give a chance to consider the part time online seller

students to pass the late part time online seller students to pass the late

requirements that they need to pass and to fill their inadequate requirements.

4. For online seller students, it is recommended that they must know their schedule

in work that is suitable in the schedule of their class. They should focus more on

their study because education is very important. Prioritize their dreams without

forgetting their health. Furthermore, learn to manage time properly, prioritize

important matters and schedule necessary things to do in order to deal with the

negative effects.

5. For the future researchers, it is recommended to increase the number of

participants to attain more key themes and more accurate results. They must be

able to use the findings of the study for further research and investigation

particularly related to the academic performance and health of part-time online

seller students since there are very limited local studies that can be found exploring

this particular subject or concern.

28

exhaustion. Furthermore, online selling as part time job also has negative effects

to their academic performance as students experience having hard time managing

and balancing their time that they can no longer perform efficiently on the given

task assigned resulting on late submission of activities and low grade.

As an implication of the findings on the negative effects of online selling as part

time job to the students Academic Performances and Health, the researchers will

coordinate to the school SSG organization to propose this Seminar entitled
