HISTORICAL PROFILE

The Catanduanes State University (formerly Catanduanes State


Colleges), started its operations in 1971 by virtue of Republic Act No. 6341,
upon passage of the bill authored by then Congressman Jose M. Alberto,
amended by Republic Act No. 6590 and later repealed by Presidential
Decree No. 1437 on June 10, 1978. On July 22, 1996, the Tenth Congress
of the Republic of the Philippines enacted and approved Republic Act No.
8292, a law which provides for the uniform compositions and powers of

the governing boards, the manner of appointment and term of office of
the president of chartered state universities and colleges, and for other
purposes. This Act repealed and amended all laws, presidential decrees,
executive orders, letters of instruction and SUC charters contrary to or
inconsistent with this law.
Pursuant to Special provision No. 2 of the CHED FY 1999 Budget
under the General Appropriations Act of 1999 (RA 8745 or the integration
of CHED Supervised Institutions to State Universities and Colleges), the
Catanduanes Agricultural and Industrial College (CAIC) was integrated to
the then Catanduanes State Colleges on October 31, 1999. By virtue of
Board Resolution No. 15, s. 2003 which called for the implementation of
an approved and Revised Organizational Structure, the CSC-CAIC Annex ADDRESS
was renamed as CSC Panganiban Campus.
