Factory design
Before a factory is set there must be a set layout and design which is simply how the factory
will look like and the operations to be carried out in it .In consideration of layout and
design ,utilities and workflows are the key .The first important element in this case is application
of this factory design .the main functions of each application must be recognized
Plant layout is the other key element which is simply the optimum arrangement of facilities .this
entails several principles which includes principles of ;minimum movement ,space utilization,
flexibility, interdependence safety e.t.c just but to name a few .
The commonly studied layout are process layout , product layout ,combination and fixed layout
.each layout has its advantages and disadvantages . the factory still has some important aspects
that guides its planning ; this satisfactory guides are location i.e the place the factory will be
built at ,accessibility ; the place should be easily accessible, space for extension in future may be
due to demand ,foundation planning ,build walls ,plant with the final product in mind ,plant for
work ways ,automation or manual usage .
The importance of factory design and layout planning is key in the success of every factory .
This is due to the fact that planning promotes development of factory in a very correct and
strategic position where the products to be used are readily available .
This videos have played really a great deal in shaping my understanding of factory set up
needed.
INDUSTRIAL HEALTH
Health is wealth and maintenance of health at all time is crucial. Health thus is the absence of
disease as safety is the absence of risk of serious personal injury. Health being this important has
several barriers which are; complexity, conflicting demands and behavioral issues. therefore in
consideration 0f this industrial health has the following key areas ; fire safety, work place
safety ,personal protective equipment and control of substance as hazards to health .

The architecture of SCADA includes a control center, which is a computer system connected
with the Ethernet port, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that are connected to various
field instruments. The two important elements involved in modern SCADA systems are the RTU
and the central station computer. The SCADA system communicates in real-time with the
controllers out in the field that are running the actual process, and it gathers information from
these field controllers.

Industrial internet of things
The industrial internet of things is an industrial mechanism for collection of data which enable
the industries carry out its daily operations effectively . IIOT therefore refers to an industrial
framework whereby a large number of devices or machines are connected and synchronized
through the use of software tools and third platform technologies in a machine-tomachine and
Internet of Things context, later an Industry 4.0 or Industrial Internet context. In the early days of
IIOT most of those devices would send all the data they collected to the cloud for analysis. The
transmission of data however faces many challenges key among limitations in network capacity,
cost of transmission among other. Edge computing offers a solution to the challenges faced since
it helps IIOT devices process some of that data locally instead of sending it to the cloud. Edge
computing is a computationally efficient, secure, private, cost-effective way to utilize the
Internet of Things at scale without running the risk of data breaches or network overloads.
Additionally, edge computing offers a layer of resilience and redundancy for missioncritical
tasks
