WHAT IS AN INTERNET?

Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link several
billion devices worldwide.
 It is a network of networks that consists of
millions of private, public, academic, business,
and government networks of local to global scope,
linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless,
and optical networking technologies.
WHAT IS WEB SURFING?
 To navigate through the World Wide Web or
Internet, usually by using a web browser.
 The term also has a generic meaning of spending
time on the Internet.
 Browsing the World Wide Web or the Internet.

WHAT IS BOOKMARKING?
 Bookmarking is to record
the address of (a website,
file, etc.) to enable quick
access in future.

 It is to save a Web address


or website on your browser
so that you can easily re-
visit the website at a later
time.

 What is a Web browser?
 A web browser (commonly referred to as a browser) is
a software application for retrieving, presenting and
traversing information resources on the World Wide
Web. An information resource is identified by a
Uniform Resource Identifier (URI/URL) and may be a
web page, image, video or other piece of content.

 What is a search engine
 A web search engine is a software system that is
designed to search for information on the World Wide
Web. The search results are generally presented in a

WHAT IS A “URL”
 Abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
it is the global address of documents and other
resources on the World Wide Web.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
WEBSITE & URL?
 URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, it is
the "technical term" for the address of a web
page.

 Website refers to a collection of web pages, which


of course also means it refers to a collection of
URLs.

 So when someone says "Yahoo" they usually


mean web site and if someone says
"www.yahoo.com" they usually mean URL.
