My name is Angelo Sibolboro, and I am 27 years old from Calaaoan, Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur.

When I
was in college, a friend told me about GIP and SPES. I also became aware of it because my sister
worked as a GIP before.

What inspired me to join this program is my family. I hope that one day, I will be able to help them
even more than I can today. They inspire me to be the best version of myself. This inspiration
encourages me to believe in myself and to show that anyone can overcome obstacles and achieve
their goals.

One experience that I will never forget as a GIP/SPES participant is the opportunity to become a good
and efficient government employee. I treat everyone, I interact with respect. The most valuable lesson
I learned as a beneficiary is that when you have the courage to face life challenges, treat others with
respect and humility, and show them your professionalism, you can be a positive influence on others
and make a difference.

I used my salary as a SPES beneficiary to cover my school expenses. I also provided my family with
necessary things, especially for my siblings who are still in school. Being able to support them in any
way I can is truly rewarding.

GIP/SPES played a significant role in securing my current job. I was a SPES beneficiary in 2017 and
a GIP beneficiary in 2021. I was hired as a job order employee of LGU STA. CRUZ under the
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office on September 15, 2022, and I recently became a
permanent employee. I obtained my plantilla position as a SOCIAL WELFARE AIDE on June 15,
2023.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work in our municipality for a lifetime. This is undoubtedly the
happiest moment of my life. It still feels surreal even now. The best advice I can offer to someone who
will be part of this humble and beneficial program is to never lose hope and always trust the process. I
have been in your shoes, and it may sometimes feel like the flowers are withering, but you must
remain steadfast.

The journey will not always be smooth sailing, as there will be ups and downs. However, as they say,
good things come to those who patiently wait. You will reach your destination, and I guarantee that it
will be one of the happiest times in your life. Don’t just go with the flow, but flow with direction. Work
hard and pray with all your heart.

As a GIP/SPES beneficiary in our municipality, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for
giving me this opportunity. I will be forever grateful to the Department of Labor and Employment for
providing me with this invaluable experience. You will always be a part of my journey. Thank you so
much, and may God bless you.
