Summary

Family is the basic unit of society, and is shaped by all forces surround it. Values,
beliefs, and customs of society influence the role and function of the family it invades every
aspect of the life of the family. To assess for the health needs, family health assessment is
used, a set of actions by which the status of a family as client, its ability to maintain itself as a
system and functioning unit it has Data Collection, Data Analysis and Diagnosis. The family of
Ma’am Jacob is the focus of the study. R. B. is the head of the family, a 24 years old working as
a construction worker at Bonfal West, having an income of 10-13, 000 depending on the days of
work, his income for one day has a maximum of 550 and a minimum of 350. The live-in partner
is Ma’am C.J., a housewife that cares for their two children, who is 22 years old. Their daughter
was named F.E.B, a two-year-old that always likes to play. She has an allergy to fishy foods
specially to fish and chicken. Her allergy causes redness, itchiness, swelling, irritation on the
skin and form bruises and scars. It was diagnosed when she was 11 months old, but luckily with
the help of the ointment hydrocortisone, baby F.E.B health status is getting better. They have
also a 6 months old son that is very good on breastfeeding. Their family was one of the types of
cohabiting. Their house was made from cement, their windows was made from bamboos, and
they don’t have their own toilet facility. As a result, they used chamber pots every night and
during the day time, they will go to their mother-in-law to wash and defecate. Their source of
water was from NAWASA and their drinking water was a mineral which they buy 2-3 times a
week. They have a steep and muddy environment. Ma’am C.J was a housewife that always
make sure to properly segregate their own trash, there are breeding sites of diseases like the
basin that is full of unclean dishes and full of left-overs, and during the first visit, it has seen that
when it gets rain there will be flood inside of the house coming from the other room since the
window was made of bamboo. Sharp objects are also everywhere, especially the sink itself is a
hazardous one because of its sharp edges.
Baby FEB completed her vaccine, she has BCG, HEPA B, IPV, DPT, MEASLES. Baby
CB, received BCG, HEPA B, DPT AND IPV. Ma’am CJ received 1’st and 2 nd dose of Sinovac
vaccine and 1st dose of booster shot, and Sir R.B. received 1 st and 2nd dose of Astra Zenica and
both of them received a complete immunization during their childhood. Upon identifying the
problem, there are five health problems that needs to address. First, Health Deficit; Skin allergy
to fish. Second, Health Threat; Presence of Accident Hazard (Pointed/Sharp Objects). Third,
Health Threat: Presence of Breeding Sites of Vectors of Disease. Fourth, Health Deficit: Cough
and Colds. Lastly, Unhealthful Lifestyle and Personal Habits/Practices (Walking Barefooted).
Based on the identified problems, the priority was computed with the used of the of the Criteria
in Prioritization the Nature, Modifiability, Preventive Potential and Salience of the Problem was
identified, and Health Deficit; Skin allergy to fish and Health Deficit; Cough and cold scored
highest among the identified problems.
