[INTRO]
Over centuries of evolutionized photography equipment
and cameras and techniques, we have come to modern
day where everything is possible. With such
advancements over the years, when looking back on
early stages of photo development it makes you
appreciate their work more and understand how unique
and special they are with the hours of work and
complication that was gone through to create this
art.
[BRIEF HISTORY]
In the early stages of photo manipulation in 1841, a
man called Calvert Richard Jones created the first
ever edited photo in history. His colleague William
Henry Fox Talbot took a photograph of 5 monks on the
roof of a building in Malta, however Jones did not
agree with the fifth monk being in the back of the
photograph and painted over him using Indian ink.
[KEY PEOPLE]
With regards to key people within the industry of
photo editing, many historical people have had people
edited out of photos. For example, in 1937, Adolf
Hitler removed Joseph Goebbels from a photograph
taken of the both of them alongside other colleagues.
The reason for this is unknown, however Goebbels was
Hitler’s most trusted advisor util their deaths at
the end of World War II. Another example of
historical people removing people from photos, is
Canadian Prime Minister Lyon Mackenzie. In 1939,
there was a photo taken for Mackenzie’s re-election
with Queen Elizabeth as well as King George VI. It is
thought that Mackenzie had removed King George VI as
it made the photo better for election purposes.
[KEY TECHNIQUES]
In terms of key techniques, the 4 c’s are essential
to ensuring you have the perfect photograph: clarity,
colour, contrast and consistency. These are important
as they guarantee the success of the photograph,
especially if for example said photos are said
