Assignment-1 Individual: "Concepts in Gothic Architecture" (10%)

Objectives:

Using different sources of information, you will provide a written document that answers the questions in
section I (Essay Style/400 words minimum). Also, you will explore architectural characteristics and
definitions of Gothic architecture and labeling the provided Notre Dame Cathedral graphics in section II.

Goals:
• To analyze and integrate information from diverse formats including, readings, videos, and visuals,
into a written report that answers questions in two sections of the assignment.
• To understand Notre-Dame Cathedral’s history, style, fire and facts.
• To effectively prepare an “individual document” by building, supporting, and comprehending ideas
and concepts about Gothic architecture.
• To engage in an architectural, technical vocabulary and mentally organize the information.
• To understand the relation between past, present, and future in architectural technologies.
• To understand the importance of “Notre Dame Cathedral” at the world level.

General instructions:

This assignment has two parts; each should have enough development for a grade. Both parts will be merged
into ONE word or PDF document.

 The writing part: Visit the provided links at the bottom and respond to the questions.
 The graphic part: To label the plan and elevation, go to our E-Campus site under the Assignment-1
module to retrieve the plan and elevation images of Notre Dame Paris Cathedral.

Your assignment must be turned in into the e-Campus “Assignment 1-Individual” Dropbox. The due date will
be on Sunday Sep 04, 2022 at 11:59 PM. Late works will be penalized with a 10% reduction each following
day (up to three days).

Format:
Set your text margins to be 1 inch on all sides, double line spacing, and use only one standard font size 12
throughout the paper (Do not enlarge the font to make your report appear longer) and cited your sources.
