MINIATURE'S DEN PATREON GUIDES:

ABBADON THE
DESPOILER
Sword and Red Details
PAINTS USED
IN THIS GUIDE
AK: Burnt Red, Deep Red
Kimera: Black, Sun Ray
Reaper: Ultramarine Blue
PART 1

The blade was painted in a simple, but effective way.

First, it was basecoated in a light grey color (black+white). I then left the upper half of the blade with it's
grey basecoat, and painted the middle-bottom area in Reaper Ultramarine Blue.
I then progressively painted it lighter (Kimera Sun Ray) moving towards the guard. In this case, I
wetblended the lighter colors on top of one another to get a quick and fairly smooth transition which I
then cleaned up with layering.
If you're unfamiliar with wet blending, the best way I can explain it is on my YouTube channel, check it
out!

The upper part of the blade, originally left grey, was darkened with glazes of black and then worked up in
a NMM fashion, with the colors of the silver (coming up).
PART 2

The red details were basecoated in AK Burnt Red with a bit of black added in it.
I then highlighted painting pure Burnt Red in all areas that weren't deep shadow (recesses, bottom of
details).
I then highlighted once more using AK Deep Red with a bit of Kimera Sun Rey in the mix (to improve
coverage), painting the highlights in the point of maximum volume and edges. I then glazed Deep Red
over the highlights to saturate them back into red.
