The Argument between the Bat and the ball

.

Then it was West Indies time to bat. Our

players were good too. We had three
hundred runs when Brian Lara came to bat.
‘Ah, there goes another six’, said the
commentator. ’Brian Lara is absolutely
brilliant! Wow, look at that ball; it is high in
the air. But a Pakistan player is right under
it. Oh no! He caught it. Brian Lara is out and
the West Indies team is down. What a sad
day at the Circle.’’i

It was a bright and sunny day at the

Queen’s Park Circle. The game started at
eight o’clock. Brain Lara’s family and
supporters were there. It began, with
Pakistan winning the toss. They made three
hundred and sixty-five runs. They were
really good

Meanwhile, the ball and the bat seemed to be having an argument.1 The bat asked the ball,
‘why did you have to fall in the man’s hands?’

‘Not me, it was your fault. It was you who sent me there.’

‘If you did watch what going on we would never lose.’

‘You old crooked bat, I’m not playing with you again. ‘And so they left the Circle and so did I,
very unhappy.2
