Diabetes and hypertension are high-risk factors for kidney and heart disease. This is primarily due
to poor lifestyle habits and ignorance. The importance of creating awareness begins right from the
basics of educating the common man. A lot depends on the timing of testing and early detection,
which can be achieved using basic and advanced diagnostic tests available in public and private
healthcare setups across Asia. There are a host of technological advances in the treatment and
management of HKD, but what many clinicians and health governments are hoping for now is
early detection. Recognising the early stages will have the largest impact on reducing social and
