Comparing what the two programs offer, I think I would choose Carleton University. The tuition
fees for both universities are extremely high, but Carleton University’s are cheaper. In addition to
that, it’s easier to meet all the criteria (admission requirements, minimum average and English
proficiency level). Because I’m not sure yet on what to do, Carleton University gives me more time
to decide; in fact, the admission deadline for the fall 2024 semester is the first of June. This way,
I’m not pressed by the upcoming deadline and therefore I can think more lucidly and objectively
about my future.

For this job, I am more flexible to decide in which major I want to graduate. As a matter of fact, I
could go to Simon Fraser University and I could follow an actuarial science program or I could go
to UBC and I could study statistics.
Searching on the net for more information about actuarial science, I found out that I’m actually
interested in what an actuary does. For this reason, I would probably go to Simon Fraser University.
In this way, after graduating, I could either decide to be a statistician or an actuary. Hence, I will
have different job possibilities according to what I think is better without having to decide right now
with little knowledge about what I will enjoy studying more during university. Moreover, the SFU’s
deadline is later than UBC’s so the first university gives me more time to think about it. Also, last
but not least, the long list of admission requirements for SFU gives more chances to satisfy each
condition because of the large number of options available to fulfill them.
