PRESENTATION GOALS

• REFLECTING ON THE POTENTIAL OF THE ENNEAGRAM TO HELP US FIND CREATIVE SOLUTIONS

TO TODAY’S BUSINESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES.
• UNDERSTANDING THE OBSTACLES TO CREATIVITY FOR EACH OF THE NINE POINTS, AND
HOW TO OVERCOME THEM.
• DISCOVERING A PRACTICAL, HANDS-ON APPROACH TO THE USE OF ENNEAGRAM FOR THE
CREATIVE SKILL IMPROVEMENT FOR LEADERS, TEAMS AND ORGANIZATIONS.
• EXAMPLES OF USING THE ENNEAGRAM WISDOM TO IMPROVE CREATIVITY IN
PROFESSIONALS AND ORGANIZATIONS.

WHY IS CREATIVITY
IMPORTANT?
• MANY PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THE CREATIVE

HOW TO UNLOCK CREATIVITY IN THEIR REAL LIFE?

• OUR SENSE OF JUSTICE IS UNDERWRITTEN BY THE RIGHT HEMISPHERE (…) WITH
INACTIVATION OF THIS AREA, WE ACT MORE SELFISHLY.
• THE LEFT HEMISPHERE’S TENDENCY TO RECUR TO WHAT IT IS FAMILIAR WITH, TENDS TO
REINFORCE WHATEVER IT IS ALREADY DOING. (…) THE RIGHT HEMISPHERE BY CONTRAST,

WHY EGO IS THE “ENEMY” OF TRUE CREATIVITY?
CREATIVITY RESIDES IN AREAS OF THE BRAIN THAT ARE
ACTIVATED WHEN OTHER MORE ”AUTOMATED" AREAS
(REPTILE BRAIN, LEFT NEOCORTEX) ARE NOT PREDOMINANT.
THE EDUCATION WE RECEIVE AND THE SOCIETY WE LIVE IN,
ARE CONSTANTLY FUELLING THE FUNCTIONING OF THE
AUTOMATED EGO RESPONSES (ARMOUR):
• COMPETITION / COMPETITIVENESS / SELF VS OTHERS
• CONSTANT RUSH, FEELING OF SCARCITY OR LACK OF
RESOURCES
• WORRIES AND FEARS (PANDEMICS, CATASTROPHES,
CLIMATE CHANGE, CRIMES ...)

CREATIVE BLOCKS

CREATIVITY
Essential function of the Human Being

in connection with the source of the Flow

“EGO CREATIVITY” IS NEITHER
SUSTAINABLE, NOR RENEWABLE

• WHEN YOU DEMAND YOUR BRAIN TO “BE CREATIVE”

IN ORDER TO ESCAPE FROM OR SOLVE PROBLEMS IN
A CONSTANT HURRY, OVERUSING THE “ALERT
SYSTEM”, YOU CAN BURN OUT AND LOSE TOUCH
FROM TRUE CREATIVITY.
• TRUE CREATIVITY IS NOT AVAILABLE WHEN EGO’S
BASIC FEARS ARE ON.

WHAT IS “TRUE” CREATIVITY?

"IT IS ONE OF THE MAIN MEANS THAT WE HAVE AS HUMAN BEINGS, TO SET US FREE FROM THE
SHACKLES, NOT ONLY FROM OUR CONDITIONED RESPONSES, BUT ALSO FROM OUR USUAL
DECISIONS.”

CREATIVE BLOCKS FROM THE SOMATIC CENTRE

• TYPE 1: PERFECTIONISM AND SELF-CRITICISM

When the need of perfection overcomes
authenticity, creativity gets stuck into self-
demanding sabotage.

Type 8: NEED TO CONTROL, COMPETITIVENESS

Type 9: CONFORMISM, “YES TO ALL”, UNCLEAR
BOUNDARIES
SOME CREATIVE BLOCKS FROM

• TYPE 2: UTILITARIANISM AND NEED OF

PRAISE
Creativity doesn't show up when the worries
about "what people will say" join the need to
please or to be useful to others.

• TYPE 3: MERCANTILISM AND RESULT

OBSESSION
Type 3's constant effort is oriented to
successful results, losing touch with their
authenticity and the enjoyment of the creative
process.

• TYPE 4: ORIGINALISM AND COMPARISON

The belief that "being creative" equals "being
original" most of the times forces creative flow
into a dead-end street.
Uniqueness has no comparison whatsoever.

• TYPE 5: SELF DOUBT AND

OVERTHINKING
Feeling unprepared, unskilled, or
not expert enough for a project is
one of the most common places
where creative ideas get stuck.

SOME CREATIVE BLOCKS FROM
THE MIND CENTRE
• TYPE 6: EXCESSIVE WORRIES AND BURNOUT
Working with constant pressure and hurry doesn't
leave space to recharge creative energy and gets you
stuck into toxic, catastrophic thoughts.
• TYPE 7: PROCRASTINATION AND DISTRACTION
Starting many projects before finishing any of them is
a very common way to get stuck into postponing and
discharging creative energy.

HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE YOUR CREATIVITY
USING THE ENNEAGRAM WISDOM?

THE “ENEAGRAMA CREATIVO” MENTORING METHOD

CONSISTS OF THREE STEPS:
1. TAILOR-MADE ENNEAGRAM TEST REPORT
2. ENNEAGRAM-BASED MENTORING SESSION
3. CUSTOMIZED ACTION PLAN WITH SPECIFIC EXERCISES
AND INPUTS
Step 1:
TAILOR-MADE ENNEAGRAM TEST REPORT

THE TEST WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED IN

SPANISH LANGUAGE.

ITS OBJECTIVE IS TO GIVE A HYPOTHESIS OF

THE CONSULTANT'S ENNEATYPE IN THE FIRST
3 SCORES.

IT CAN BE USED BY PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE

ENNEAGRAM MODEL AS WELL AS THOSE
WHO DO NOT.
A WELL-CONSTRUCTED ENNEAGRAM TEST HAS THESE
CHARACTERISTICS:

• THE NUMBER OF REAGENTS IS EQUAL TO OR GREATER

THAN 100.

• THE QUALITY OF THE ITEMS (BEHAVIOR, PERSONAL

ATTITUDES, FEELINGS AND GENERAL OBSERVATIONS
DIFFER AND COORDINATE WITH EACH OTHER)

• WE CONSIDER THAT SHORTER TESTS TEND TO BE A

WASTE OF TIME AND MORE CONFUSING THAN USEFUL.

• THE TYPE-9 TEST IS BUILT WITH 135 REAGENTS

• THE TEST GENERATES A REPORT DIVIDED INTO 3 PHASES

CONVERSATION

• The test report is a starting point for a

conversation that goes to the depth of the
creative block
• Tailor-made questions and exercises in
order to facilitate and allow the raising of
true creativity
• Enneagram is the map guide to discover
vulnerability, basic fear, ego fixation and
unlocking paths

STEP 3: ACTION PLAN

• The mentoring session ends with an immediately applicable action plan, based on the conclusions
of the conversation and the client’s commitments.
• Start/stop/continue format
• Enriched by suggestions for reading, listening, watching, and visual exercises.
• It can be followed by a full coaching process to integrate all 9 creative enneagram energies.

YOU WERE A CHILD?
CHILDREN ARE KNOWN TO BE THE MOST CREATIVE HUMANS.

THE EGO GREW UP TO PROTECT YOU WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG,

VULNERABLE AND HELPLESS.

YOUR INNER CHILD ONCE SUFFERED AND BUILT AN ARMOUR TO

PROTECT VULNERABILITY:

• REJECTION/ABANDONMENT WOUND (SELF-PROTECTION TYPE 2,

3 AND 4)

• SELF-AFFIRMATION WOUND (SELF-PROTECTION TYPE 1, 8 AND 9)

• SELF-CONFIDENCE WOUND (SELF-PROTECTION TYPE 5, 6 AND 7)
