Application conditions

1. Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport and a degree equivalent to a Chinese high

school diploma or above;

2. Applicants who are residents of Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong, Macao and

Taiwan immigrate and obtain foreign nationality; or those whose parents are Chinese

citizens and have settled in foreign countries, and who have foreign nationality at birth, must

meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education’s Foreign Language Teaching

Requirements of Document No. 12 [2020];

3. Applicants for majors in English (for international students) and the School of International

Chinese Culture must pass HSK-4 with a score of 180 or above, and other majors must pass

HSK-5 with a score of 180 or above. Applicants from non-native English-speaking countries

applying for English-taught majors must provide IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 85 points or Cambridge

English B2 or above certificates;

4. Applicants under the age of 18 must provide a guardian’s guarantee letter. If the

applicant's parents are not in China, the parents need to entrust a foreigner or Chinese

resident in China to serve as the guardian.

How to Study in China Absolutely Free

Please log in to the online registration system (http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn) Fill out the form online

and pay the application fee of RMB 800.

2. High school diploma

Scanned copies of the original documents, and notarized translations in Chinese or English

are required if they are not in Chinese or English; fresh graduates must provide an expected

graduation certificate when applying (the expected time to obtain the graduation certificate

should be earlier than August 31 of the same year). When registering, Graduation certificate

must be submitted.

3. Complete high school transcript

If the application is in a language other than Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or

English translation is required.

4. Proof of language proficiency

*Taught in Chinese: A copy of the HSK certificate within the validity period (2 years) (for HSK

level requirements, please refer to the professional catalog in the admission brochure)

*Taught in English: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 85 or Cambridge English B2 or above

*Exemption from submitting proof of English proficiency:

1) English as native language or official language

2) Other equivalent certificates of English proficiency (subject to review and approval by our

school)

5. Self-recommendation letter of 500-800 words (if applying for a Chinese-taught program, it

must be written in Chinese)

6. Copy of passport (including personal information page and all Chinese visa pages)

7. Applicants under the age of 18 must provide a guardian’s guarantee letter

Supplementary materials for applicants who are residents of mainland China

(Mainland), Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who immigrated and obtained foreign

nationality, or whose parents are Chinese citizens and have settled in foreign

countries, and who had foreign nationality at birth:

Supplementary materials for scholarship application:

1. Physical examination report within validity period (six months)

Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the "Physical Examination Form for

Foreigners" and provide a detailed report of the blood test. If there are missing items, no

photo of the applicant, or the photo is not stamped or stamped, or signed and stamped by

the doctor or hospital. The "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" is invalid.

2. Proof of no criminal record (if it is not in Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or

English translation is required)

Supplementary materials for professional college application:

Applicants to the Academy of Fine Arts must provide original copies of recent works.

Log in to the East China Normal University International Student Online Application

Systemhttp://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn, please register and fill out the application, upload relevant

application materials, and pay the application fee of 800 yuan online. Note that once the

application fee is successfully paid, it will not be refunded.

*If you apply for a scholarship program, please also fill in the application information on the

relevant scholarship application website.

2. Participate in the interview

After receiving the interview notice, please attend the interview on time. The specific

interview time will be subject to the email notification. Please ensure that the email address

is correct.

3. Track application status online

Please follow your email or log in to the account you registered on the East China Normal

University application website to check the application progress and status.

4. Admission and enrollment

Admission results can be checked on the East China Normal University International Student

Online Application System. Admitted students must strictly follow the time specified in the

admission notice to check in and register. The original graduation certificate will be verified
when checking in. Those who fail to obtain the corresponding certificates will be disqualified

from admission.
