In addition to being one of the most prominent
literary figures of the 20th century, Virginia Woolf is
considered a pioneer of feminism. At a time when
women always depended on a man in the family
(father, brother, husband), she rebelled against social
conventions to further her vocation as a writer.
In her works she reflects on what happened to
women of the time and on the difficulties faced by
women due to being women in a world dominated
by men.

Virginia Woolf liked to define
herself as the "daughter of an
educated man." The expression
would remain forever embodied
in her work Tres Guineas, and
behind it hides an anti-
patriarchal message with which
the writer attacked the situation
of women in old Victorian
society.
Proposed by well-known
feminists and writers such as
Jane Marcus as the "mother of
all feminist battles and
discourses".
Tres Guineas is a harsh feminist,
anti-war and anti-fascist
manifesto, with which Woolf
tries to dismantle the patriarchal
policies that originated the
Great War of 14, analyzing in
detail the situation of
discrimination against women
and their lack of power and
influence, derived from the lack
of educational and professional
opportunities.
