The lst of members attended the meeting is enclosed in Annexure |. ‘The Governing body considered various items in the agenda and the deliberations are detailed below: [8.01 Welcome Dr. N. Rengarajan, Principal welcomed all the members 602 Confirmation of the minutes of 7" Governing Body Meeting held on 31.08.2019 Discussion | Dr. N. Rengarajan, Principal presented the minutes of the 7 meeting of Governing Body (GB) Resolution | Noted the contents of 7" GB meeting and approved the MoM - — 3.03 Report on action taken on the minutes of Governing Body Meeting (enclosed in Annexure Discussion | The Action Taken Report (ATR) was placed before the members. GB members appreciated the efforts taken by the Institution to implement the suggestions Resolution | ATR ofthe last GB was noted and approved. 8.04 Approval of the minutes: ‘of 8" Academic Council Meeting held on 16.10.2020 Discussion | Dr. N. Rengarajan, Principal presented the minutes of the 6 Academic Council meeting Resolution | Members approved the minutes of 8" Academic Council Meeting 8.05 ‘Approval of the minutes of 10 Finance committee meeting which was held on 10.09.2020 Discussion | Principal presented the content of the 10! Finance committee meeting minutes Resolution | The GB approved the minutes of the 10" Finance Committee meeting - 8068 ‘Approval of faculty appointments / relleving Discussion | The list of Faculty members appointed after the last meeting was placed before the members ‘* Number of new faculty members appointed during the academic year 2019-20: 13 > The list of faculty members left after the last meeting was placed before the members. ‘« Number of faculty members relieved during the academic year 2019-20 : 20 Resolution | The GB approved the appointments and relieving of faculty members Ttem8.07 | Affiation Details _ —_ Mi 8.07.01 | AICTE Extension of Approvals 807.02 | A ity Affiliation - Discussion | > Principal informed the AICTE extension approvals, Anna University affiiation, reduction in intake of Mechanical (180 to 120) and MCA (60 to 30) Programmes from the academic year 2019-20. Further, informed the renewal and validity status of CSE, ECE and MECH research centers approved by Anna University. The members appreciated for having 3 Research centres and 14 faculty members pursuing Ph D. > Mr. Senthil Kumar Moorthy asked about addition of programmes in lieu of reduction of intake in MCA and Mechanical. Senthil has requested the members to give suggestions for new Programmes to add in the forth coming years > Dr. Maya Ingle suggested to have specialized courses at PG level and fundamental courses at UG level with more emphasize on applications > Mr. Senthil Kumar Moorthy highlighted the need for having fundamental courses and the ‘current interests of students towards Data. Science, Artificial Inteligence and Machine learning. He has suggested to develop curriculum in such a way that basic engineering | should be a base part of a course and data at the top of it. Further, suggested to consider | for adding Aeronautical Engineering programme. Mr. Lavanam Amballa also agreed with the opinion of other members related to fundamental program and specialized programs. He mentioned about the current trend and introduction of Data Science, Artificial Inteligence and Machine Leaming Programmes by other institutions. He has suggested to have new Programmes by synchronizing fundamentals concepts and new technologies with applications considering the future scale as suggested by NASSCOM. ‘+ To have knowledge partners for effective implementation of such new Programmes. > _Dr.B. V. Mudgal agreed withthe suggestion of other members related to new courses. v [Resolution Resolved to record the approvals by AICTE, Anna University and reduction in intake. 608 Honors and Achievements Discussion Principal has presented the Honors and Achievements of the institution as given below: > 5:star rating by Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of Ministry of Education, > THE WEEK Ranked 138 among all Engineering Colleges in india ¥ Ranked 107 among private Engineering Colleges in India by The Week > DATAQUEST Ranked Sst among Top 100 government and private T schools in india. ¥ Ranked 41st among Top private T schools in India. 520 Students have participated and won 125 prizes in various co-curricular events 63 Students have participated and won 42 prizes in various extra-curricular events ‘Secured best ISTE student award ‘Appreciation for participation in PALS, a forum of IT Alumni 211 students and 51 faculty ‘members. Also, four students have won prizes in PALS campus events during 2019-20 > Proposals submitted to MSME for Business Incubation funding > Placement: IT sector -163 students, Core - 150 students GB members appreciated the efforts taken by the Institution and suggested to continue the ‘same efforts in future. Dr. Maya Ingle has suggested to improve the placement. Principal has explained the current scenario of industry recruitment, reduction of bulk hiring by IT industries, institution's focus on core placement and is progress. Mr. Senthil Kumar Moorthi suggested 10 publicize the news related to competitive exams such as IES, GATE and other a vv Government exams, among students to create an awareness. ‘+ Also recommended to have a road show by inviting suocesstul goverment officals and | interact with students. ‘* Suggested to create Linkedin profile preferably by CSE & IT students to exhibit their profile which is considered as a key metrics in IT industries. Dr. J. Senthil has explained the initiatives taken by the college for competitive and other Government exams by categorizing and providing training based on the student's interest from | 3 year onwards. Resolution | Noted and resolved to record the achievements 809 Co-curricular and Extracurricular Activities Discussion | Principal has presented the details of club activities conducted as a part of “Co-curricular and Extracurricular Activities”. He has also highlighted the list of projects exhibited by the students during Innovation day. > Mr. Senthil Kumar Moorthi appreciated for having various kinds of clubs and suggested to have Toastmasters Intemational club for promoting communication and leadership skills | ‘among students. Resolution | Recorded the detais of club activites under Co-curicular and Extracurricular Activities 8.10 ‘Academic performance of students | Discussion | Principal presented the details of eligible graduands to receive the degree during the year 2019-20. Maya Ingle suggested to include “Life Skill Management” as a part of academic initiative with 2 credit if possible for the benefit ofthe students. )> Mr. Senthil Kumar Moorthi appreciated for having open elective and human values courses. | Resolution | Resolved to follow the suggestion 812 Faculty Activites 8.12.01 | Publications 8.12.02 |” Faculty Development - Conferences, Workshops & FOPs 8.12.03 | Consultancy & Grant in Aid Received | Discussion Details of Joumal publications (87), Conferences (84), Workshops & FDPs attended (502 ‘os.), FDP organized (18 nos.), Consultancy work undertaken (46 nos. Rs.2,84,280 |-) and Grant-in-Aid received (AICTE-RPS: Rs. 6.36 lakh, MODROB: 9.14 lakh and other funding | agencies: 7.21 lakhs) during the academic year 2019-20 were presented by Principal. Also highlighted the number of patent (20) and copyright (41) filed up to the academic year 2019.20, > Or B. V. Mudgal, University Nominee, suggested to segregate testing and consultancy | work to strengthen the consultancy part in future. | > Dr. Maya ingle appreciated the organization of various events and suggested to send ‘announcements to GB members so that they could know the ongoing activities of the institution. Resolution Resolved to record the activities [8.13 Infrastructure development intiatives Discussion Principal explained about the progress of New Auditorium and establishment of new laboratories for Biomedical Engineering (Diagnostic and Therapeutic lab) Resolution Resolved to record the activities | a4 [Scholarship Schemes Discussion | Principal presented the meft scholarships awarded by the management. ‘Scholarship amounts sectioned: Rs. 1.92 crores Number of students benefited: 950 (under various schemes like merit scholarship, single | parent scholarship, Alumni scholarship etc) Resolution Noted and appreciated the management 8.15 Any other items > Dr, B. V. Mudgel, University Nominee, suggested to consider linking courses with Sustainable Development concepts while framing new syllabus. | > Mr. Senthil Kumar Moorthi, Industry expert highlighted the sklls expected by industries ike kickstarting, to be proactive and sel-learning from students and wanted to know the current practice ofthe institution. Dr. J. Senthil explained the introduction of new tool examly and its features such as point scoring system from 1 year along with regular academics (solve problems on their ov and score), Pearson tool (assess the level of students and start improving) and selt-eaming through online course & earning credits.
