GD Tips

1. GD, extempore GD, interview, writing test, case study

2.

3. Don’t address the evaluator

4. Brownie points: Start/ summarise the GD.
5. While summarizing: don’t add new points, include all the points discussed.
6. In case you don’t have anything to say:
 Speak up earlier to avoid your points getting exhausted.
 Think of unique points that was not thought of.
 Give personal examples if both the tips do not work. Personal examples
should be relevant.
 Take the points talked about before and paint a bigger picture to the point.
7. Don’t put all your points together. Put one point at a time and move on.
8.

9. During the time given in case based GDs, ask questions for more information. Don’t
waste this time by making assumptions. You get brownie points for asking smart
questions.
10. Case based: Start with what could have gone wrong. Try to map from the initial
point till the end point. Need to be extremely logical here.
11. No right/wrong in abstract topics. You can put more views in the same point.
12. GK based GD: there can always be two sides of a coin. No right/wrong but there are
“obviously” wrong/right in such cases.
13. DO NOT BE EMOTIONAL.
14. You have the right to intercept and bring back the point if someone is going off the
tangent on a topic.
15. Either before or after concluding, you can put your point.
16.

17. You can a draw logical parallel with the same topic if you don’t know much about it.
18. Do not cross your legs and arms. Do not lean back. Make sure to keep eye contact
with everyone.
19. Do not put your hands on the table and do not make hand movements.
