SMART Goals

Are your goals specific and are they a stretch, but realistic?
Joanne, your goals and specific and are realistic in that they are achievable
Identified points you have already reflected on:
*EALD – checking availability of the online sessions for 2024; missed some sessions this year
*Literacy and Numeracy goals – already started working on achieving these goals
*Main goal area – Personal goal (AITSL Standard 6): keep working on development in this area
and not plateau

Do you think your goals are measurable? Can they be used for feedback and
reflection?
Joanne, your goals can be measured to determine achievement/success and
provide for feedback from students/peers/supervisors as well as self-reflection
Identified points you have already reflected on:
*getting student feedback - student interests being implemented
*considering how to plan across the curriculum and not just isolated learning activities

Does the achievement of your goal have meaningful positive implications for your
own teaching practice, student outcomes and the overall goals of our school?
Joanne, your goals all encompass student outcomes, school goals and personal
development

How will you be regularly assessing your progress in achieving your goals? (e.g. what
evidence will you be collecting and how do you collect that evidence?)
• OneNote to upload evidence (e.g. photos of activities/learning tasks, meeting
notes, feedback from observation, DWP reflections, programs)
• Portfolio being completed on Weebly

What actions are you taking to achieve your goal?

• Literacy Goal – EALD: speaking with Paula Duggan about student progress;
looked at Seesaw activities to see if students had been making appropriate
progress and if was just EALD or if there was consideration for imputing a
disability. (Use of Seesaw helps to keep myself accountable but also provides
the evidence; it is extra work to set up but makes everything a lot clearer for
myself and for discussions with parents.)
• Self-reflections – keeping a OneNote from professional learning activities and
classroom activities
• Numeracy – supervisor notes: I will email and let you know when I’m coming for
a class visit and I can either work with students or observe you to provide
feedback; trying to provide release time to observe Jane take an EMU lesson
or meet with Jane to discuss strategies for Numeracy

What support / resources do you need to be able to achieve your goal?

• Standard 6 and 7 – a role within the school to support other teachers; would
love to be able to help mentor graduates or lead staff in using Seesaw in the
classroom
• Working with Jane for Numeracy goal (language, strategies, developing
reasoning)
• Seeking PD opportunities through CEWA
What is your timeframe for achieving your goal? Have you set milestone dates?
• Portfolio – by end of year
• Ongoing renewal – end 2026 (renewal within 5 years)
• Literacy and Numeracy – mid-term reflections on DWP and student work;
observation notes of lesson; meetings with Jane – notes and feedback
