ODBC calls are sent across your network from SequeLink clients
to the SequeLink Server service, which passes the requests to the
Server database engine. The database engine processes the requests
and passes the results back to the SequeLink Server service,
which returns them to the client.

install SequeLink ODBC Edition Client.
■ If installing from a CD, you can find the Serial Number and
Key printed on the Product Registration Information card that
is shipped with the product.
■ From installable files that you can download from a Web site.
For information about downloading installable files, contact
your MERANT sales representative. After you have
downloaded the installable files, continue with the
installation instructions in this book for your platform.
Windows NT/Windows 9x
Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 9x provide the system option
AutoPlay for CDs as a default feature. If enabled, the installer
starts immediately when you insert the CD in the CD-ROM drive.
Windows 3.1x
1 Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. If you have a local
CD-ROM drive, this typically is drive D. If the CD-ROM drive is
on a network, mount the CD and create a mapping to the
CD-ROM drive.
UNIX
Mount the CD as a file system. The following examples assume
that the /cdrom mount point is available on your UNIX system. If
not, replace /cdrom with a valid mount point.
AIX
mount -r -v cdrfs /dev/device /cdrom
HP-UX
Log in as root, and enter the following command:
Solaris
On Solaris, CDs automatically mount when inserted in the
CD-ROM drive.
Macintosh
Insert the CD in the CD-ROM drive. An icon representing the
CD-ROM is displayed on your desktop.
Installing From a CD
To install SequeLink ODBC Edition Client and other DataDirect
products from the SequeLink CD, you can use the installation
program, the Product Setup. When the installation completes,
the Product Setup window appears, allowing you to install
another product or exit from the Product Setup.
Default Installation
1 A window appears prompting you to specify a program folder
for SequeLink ODBC Edition Client.
If you are satisfied with these settings, click Next. The files
are installed using the settings you selected.
Custom Installation
1 A window appears prompting you to specify the destination
directory for SequeLink ODBC Edition Client.
Note: You must install at least one network module. For a list
of network modules provided with SequeLink ODBC Edition
Client, see “SequeLink Network Modules” on page 20.
10 If you are satisfied with these settings, click Next. The files
are installed using the settings you selected.
c:\temp\
3 Navigate to the directory to which you unzipped the files and
double-click on the setup.exe file to start the installation
program. The product Welcome window appears. Click Next
to continue.
