a. CHAPTER 21 : of two hundred bushels of meal, found before the man of God’s cell.
b. Definition of terms
- Pusillanimity = the quality of being weak and cowardly
- Prophecy = a prediction or foretelling the future

a. CHAPTER 22 : How, by vision, venerable Benedict disposed the building of the Abbey of
Taracina.
b. Definition of terms
Refectory: a room used for communal meals in a religious institution.
Conferred: have discussions; exchange opinions.
At first, Prior and Abbot questioned the vision and thought Saint Benedict would deliver
instruction in person as he had promised. They went back to him after he failed to show up
physically, and he told them that he had indeed kept his word by appearing to them in their
dreams. He gave them permission to construct the abbey in accordance with the ideas made clear
to them in their visions.
Humility is our strength that allows us to identify our limitations and imperfections. Through
acceptance and understanding one another, we find peace in both ends. We embrace life's
uncertainties and acknowledge both ourselves and others with an open heart. Also in our faith, it
is a sense of openness, meaning we are willing to open our heart for the holy spirit to enter.
● CHAPTER 23 : of certain Nuns absolved after death.
● Definition of terms
The highlight of this chapter is the story of the two Nuns who were
excommunicated as they failed to change their behavior. Thus, after their death,
they were spotted rising from their tombs and exiting the church during the
mournful liturgy. They were not observed leaving the church again after the man
of God offered an oblation. Peter wonders how the man of God could have freed
those souls who were now before God's invisible judgment. Gregory states that
the man of God was endowed with the power of bound and losing by God.
a. CHAPTER 24 : of a boy that after his burial was cast out of his grave

a. CHAPTER 25 : how a Monk, forsaking the Abbey, met with a dragon in the way.
b. Definition of terms
The main highlight of the chapter is the monk who saw a dragon waiting to
devour him when he went outside, which in turn made the other monks who
didn’t see the dragon come to his rescue. The rescued monk then promised that
he would never again forsake the monastery and continued in his profession.
The lesson that can be learned in this chapter is that an individual shouldn’t be
fickle minded and should not give up easily. This chapter showed how a monk
who wanted to leave the Abbey was saved by the prayers of the holy man, that’s
why he promised never to forsake the monastery again. This chapter serves as a
lesson for us to persevere and listen to good admonitions. It also emphasizes the
imperativeness of having faith in God, as well as the power of prayer.
