Overview
A drastic paradigm shift was in full effect when the pandemic had come. It caused many
parents and children to experience hardship in learning concepts and competencies using
modular instruction. This change of education landscape was really a big test. And so,
we are all called to adapt so that we can continue the learning of our children despite this
pandemic by offering weekly enrichment sessions to the learners with academic
challenges in literacy and numeracy to barangays where they reside.

Innovation Description

Oplan ATBP (Awit, Titik, at Bilang sa Pandemya)is an enrichment program where


teachers will offer enrichment activities to address the decline of literacy (in both
English and Filipino) and numeracy of academically challenged children. It will also
serve as an avenue to better reinforce the early reading development or the beginning
reading and literacy stage of kindergarten and 1 st grade learners so that they can better
prepare themselves to a much higher reading and numeracy level later on. Furthermore,
this strategy aims to help teachers to better monitor the learners so that they can modify
their approach based on the needs and capacity of the child they handle. Teachers shall
go to different barangays every week and each of them shall only handle 3 – 5 children
of the same level to ensure that safety measures are observe. The Phil-IRI or the
Philippipne Informal Reading Inventory shall be used to assessed the reading level of
children, then teachers shall employ these strategies (e.i. Dolch Basic sight words and
Marungko approach), whichever is appropriate, to develop the reading skills of the
children. For numeracy, Spencer card shall be used to facilitate and assess the child’s
level and progress and from there, appropriate strategies shall be employed in order to
help the need of the child. Singing of songs will serve as motivational strategy and can
be used to incorporate literacy and numeracy lessons to make the experience enjoyable.
Hence, Oplan ATBP (Awit, Titik, at Bilang sa Pandemya) is necessary to be
implemented.
