Tinder case – Sarah Ghielen

Before Tinder, the online dating industry in the United States was dominated by various
websites and platforms, the biggest one being Match.com. These platforms relied on
traditional online dating methods, such as lengthy profiles and compatibility questionnaires.
However, Tinder disrupted the market and became the new leader for several reasons.
Firstly and most importantly, simplicity. The swiping left or right made it really easy for users
to use the app, which is why it became an almost instant success. Secondly, Tinder focused
on the use of an app instead of a less accessible website. Lastly, the innovative features that
Tinder implemented, which are also focused efficiency. The geolocation, finding matches in
your area, and the mutual matching, only being able to chat with people you matched with.
