Mr. Hennigan,

I am writing in response to your May 11, 2021 letter to Stephanie Graham, General Counsel of
Northwestern University (the “University”), regarding the above-referenced matter. In your letter,
you requested confirmation that the University will remove Dr. Nalini Rajamannan’s name from
a May 2007 abstract published by the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery regarding
the results of the study protocol 1532-004, in which Dr. Rajamannan is listed as the second author.

To be clear, the University has no objection to the removal of Dr. Rajamannan’s name from the
abstract at issue. However, the University has no authority or control over the Journal of Thoracic
and Cardiovascular Surgery or the content it chooses to publish. For that reason, the University
cannot provide you with the confirmation you seek. I suggest that you contact the journal directly
with your request.
