Dear Bishop
RE: GRATITUDE FOR APPROVING LONG RETREAT OF FOCOLARE SEMINARIANS
Salve your Lordship. I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for approving my
permission to participate in the long retreat of Focolare seminarians in Mariapolis Juja. It was
really an enriching moment, which I can enthusiastically say that I have discovered a treasure
hidden behind the veil of spirituality of communion with God and neighbour.
We were engaged in different activities and inspiring sessions which were centered towards life
of prayer and love of God and men all despite their background, race, ethnicity, religion or
colour. The activities, topics of discussion and sessions were;
• Prayer and spiritual life according to the spirituality of communion
• Inculturation of our African cultures in our Christian life
• The way of Mary as a path which we should embrace and follow
• Mental health and healthy relationships
• History of Focolare movement in Kenya
• Meditation on spirituality of synodality
• Chiara Lubich’s mystical experiences
• One on one with God meditations and silent prayer
• Confessions
• Africa, land and Church
• Living the spirituality of Focolare as a diocesan seminarian/priest
• Sharing of individual experiences
• Sports for peace
• Adventure in Ngong Hills
• Send off meditation
• Feast together with the entire Mariapolis community.
The above sessions were moderated by Diocesan priests and the consecrated members of
Focolare. The members of Focolare in Mariapolis are really a wonderful community who act as a
good example of the command of our Lord, “love one another” and His prayer, “that they may
be one.” Receive their warm and lovely greetings.

Yours in Christ

Kelvin Gitau
