Romeo and Juliet

Critique

Romeo and Juliet is officially classified as a tragedy, but in some respects the play
deviates from the tragic genre. Unlike other Shakespearean tragedies such as Macbeth, King
Lear, and Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet is not concerned with a noble character whose actions
have widespread consequence. Instead, the story describes the love between two ordinary
teenagers.
Have you ever heard the phrase, 'An elephant's opinion carries a lot of weight'? This is
a pun, a play on words that makes us shake our heads and smile. Like the puns we hear and use
today, William Shakespeare's use of the pun is legendary and meant to amuse. Often sexual,
these quips help keep the audience laughing, and lighten the mood, even in a tragedy.
Shakespeare also uses foreshadowing and metaphor to give hints and bring life to his plays
Since I before exist, the legend of Romeo and Juliet touches the heart of every lover.
They serve as the role model of true love and sacrifice. A fairytale that even had a tragic ending,
still consider as happily ever after. No one can separate them even death. The story was started at
the party. Romeo saw Juliet and fell in love with her, not knowing that the parents of that
beautiful young lady are the ultimate rival of his family. And the time came that the rivalry of
their race revealed, they still continue their forbidden affair. They were so young that time but
still they continue their secret marriage, thought that thing would never separate them. But still
Juliet’s parents set an agreement to the other man to be Juliet’s husband. Juliet did an act led to
Romeo and her to death. When the innocence of me came, I was a fan of Romeo and Juliet’s
love story.
