CryoSculpting FAQ’s

What is CryoSculpting / fat-freezing?

CryoSculpting / fat-freezing is a new form of fat freezing (cryolipolysis) and body contouring. We use the newest & most
innovative cryo-aesthetics equipment currently available.

Utilizing our specialized equipment, liquid CO2 is instantly transformed into a dry gas. This hyper-cooled gas is sprayed
on the treatment area in a high velocity. This allows us to achieve a deeper penetration and faster cooling, overcoming
the resistance of hardened fat cells.

This technique is safe, effective and comfortable.

What is liquid CO2?

Liquid CO2 is carbon dioxide gas that is highly compressed and cooled to a liquid form.

What is cryolipolysis?
In simple terms, it’s a method of freezing fat cells below the skin’s surface (subcutaneous fat) in order to destroy them.
By reducing fat in this manner, we are able to reshape the contours of the body in a non-invasive way.

Prior to CryoSculpting / Fat-freezing, the most common types of cryolipolysis treatments have been CoolSculpting,
Cryoskin and Cryo T-Shock.

CryoSculpting vs. CoolSculpting: How is it different?

CoolSculpting charges per area of the body and can be a minimum of $1000 for one (1) session to treat an area such as
your stomach. To treat a similar area, CryoSculpting would save you 1/3 of that cost!

CoolSculpting uses applicators and suction to freeze fat. CryoSculpting is performed by spraying hyper-cooled CO2 (a
dry gas) on the area in a high intensity. Because of this, we can reach more areas on the body than CoolSculpting can.

On rare occasions CoolSculpting can result in some delayed onset pain, typically beginning several days after treatment.
This normally subsides within 1-2 weeks. In contrast, clients may actually feel more energetic after a CryoSculpting
treatment.

In a small number of cases, a CoolSculpting treated area can harden into a butter stick shaped lump (paradoxical adipose
hyperplasia). This will NEVER occur with CryoSculpting, since the treatment uses a spray-on application.

While very effective in freezing fat, CoolSculpting treatments can feel uncomfortable to some due to the combination of
suction and cold. In a CryoSculpting session, clients may experience being cold, but it is very rare for a client to
experience any discomfort. Should a client experience any discomfort with CryoSculpting, the discomfort subsides
immediately upon removing the spray from the treatment area.

CryoSculpting vs Cryoskin or Cryo T-Shock: How is it different?

Cryoskin and Cryo T-Shock utilize a flat round applicator applied to the skin by a technician. The applicator is applied in a
massage-like manner over the treatment area. The applicator alternates between cold and warm temperatures.

Our CryoSculpting technology utilizes hyper-cooled gas that is sprayed onto the treatment area in a high velocity. Our
process delivers a more targeted flow, the pressure is much higher, and the temperature of the application is lower.
This allows us to achieve deeper penetration and faster cooling, overcoming the resistance of hardened fat cells.

Cryo T-Shock and Cryoskin use gels on the treated area that allows the applicator to glide more smoothly over the
treatment area. The gel is removed after the treatment.

Our CryoSculpting process does not utilize any gels, lotions, oils or other topical chemicals.

What should I wear to a CryoSculpting appointment?

Please wear loose clothing or undergarments/bathing suit, which allows complete access to the treatment area(s).

This is especially important when the following areas are being treated:
• Core (stomach, sides, low back)
• Back
• Upper legs / thighs
• Glutes (butt)

For female clients requesting breast area treatments, we have complimentary disposable nipple covers available.

What should I do to prepare for a CryoSculpting appointment?

• Be sure to wear or bring the appropriate clothing (see above for details)
• Increase water intake (preferably with lemon)
• If possible, avoid caffeine day of treatment
• Do no wear / apply any creams, oils or lotions in the treatment area
• If possible, avoid doing anything to artificially increase body temp (no warm clothes)
• In cold climates, avoid using car seat heaters immediately prior to your appointment
• Avoid exercising the day of your appointment (only before, exercise after is perfectly healthy)
• Skin should be free of sweat
• Note any marks, scars, or sores in the treatment area (we will also bring these to your attention)

Do I really need to avoid coffee/caffeine before a CryoSculpting appointment?

Generally speaking, it’s a best-practice not to do anything to elevate your body temperature prior to a CryoSculpting
appointment.

Sometimes it just takes us a little longer to cool the treatment areas down to fat-freezing temperatures if the client does
anything to elevate their body temperature pre-appointment.
The “what should I do to prepare” list is a best-practices list to follow to get better results.

But, if you want to have a cup of coffee at 7am and your appointment is 4 or more hours later, that is fine. So, don’t
worry – if you drink a cup of coffee/caffeine, we will still be able to treat you.

How long does a CryoSculpting session last?

It depends on the area(s) being treated. We usually reserve 45 minutes for most areas. This includes the actual spray
session, plus 15 minutes or more with either a vibration plate or compression therapy to boost the body’s ability to
break down the fat cells more rapidly.

How long will it take to see results after a CryoSculpting treatment?

It really depends on the individual, and what type of treatment we’re doing.

For example, if we’re doing CryoSculpting / Fat-freezing in the core area (stomach, sides, low back), some may see a
result within a week of the first session. Some clients see results immediately due to the decrease in inflammation & fat
cell reduction (constriction) that results from the cold therapy.

There are rare instances when the body’s immediate response is to increase water retention. This is usually caused by a
stagnant lymphatic system and poor circulation. This is usually sub-clinical and not something that would need
diagnostics from a physician. Should this occur, we offer additional complimentary compression therapy or manual
lymphatic drainage massage - depending on which is appropriate for the client.

Much of the results also depend on the individual, their body, and their overall health habits. The better the individual
takes care of themselves, the more likely the better result.

General rule of thumb is to plan to have at least 6 sessions over 6 weeks. If we aren’t seeing trackable results within 3
treatments, we will work with you to reassess the treatment protocols to ensure the best results for you.

Does CryoSculpting hurt?

No. Clients may feel cold, but should not feel any extreme discomfort. Some discomfort due the extreme cold is normal
but should not feel any pain. Any discomfort subsides immediately once the spray is removed from the treatment area.

Most clients feel more energized following any of the cryotherapy sessions.

Are there any side effects with CryoSculpting?

• Frequently clients experience increased energy & feeling happy
• Clients may experience temporary redness in the treatment area
• It is normal to have more frequent bathroom visits (body flushing out the dead fat cells)
• Clients rarely experience frost-nip aka skin burn
• Clients rarely experience Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (a temporary inflammatory response typically
presenting if there is underlying inflammatory condition)

What are the contraindications of a CryoSculpting treatment? CryoSculpting should not be performed if a client has
any of the following conditions:
• Cancer (active or recent)
• Pregnancy (ok for pain management or edema – but must be approved by the client’s treating OBGYN
• Blood clotting disorders
• Installed pain pumps

What should I do after a CryoSculpting session to maximize my results?

• Continue to increase water intake and add lemon and/or apple cider vinegar if possible
• Avoid alcohol after treatment for 24 hours
• Exercise daily (15-30 minutes – a vigorous walk will do)
• Massage the area. Optional – wear compression clothing if available
• Avoid sugars (especially fructose), refined grains and chemically modified fats
• Limit high salt foods for 1-2 days post treatment
• Do deep breathing exercises
• Perform dry brushing in sweeping motions, always toward the heart

Are the effects of CryoSculpting permanent?

CryoSculpting does permanently freeze and kill existing fat cells. However, if on does not maintain a healthy diet and
exercise new fat can develop.

How many CryoSculpting sessions will I need?

Each individual will respond differently to a CryoSculpting treatment. Generally speaking, more than one treatment will
be needed to see longer-lasting results.
