I. OBJECTIVES
General:
Demonstrate understanding of the concepts of force and motion as applied to land
and air/sea transport.
Specific:
1. Calculate the speed of an object given the time and the distance it travels.
2. Compare the speed of man, animals and the different types of
transportation.
C. Materials: Stopwatch, handkerchief for signaling the start of the run, meter
stick
A. Review/Motivation
1. Recall the previous day’s activity..
B. Lesson Proper
1. Ask students to compare the speed of man, animals and machines using
the table below. If your class performed Activity 5.2.2, ask them to
compare their own speeds to animals and machines.
Ask questions such as:
How fast is the car compared to racehorse?
C. Generalization
1. Summarize the concepts and ideas discussed in Lessons 5.1 and 5.2
Table 5.2.4
2. Compare the speed of the bus and the jeepney. The bus is
a. one-fourth as fast
b. half- as fast
c. eight-tenths as fast
d.five-fourths as fast
