COMP4131 Lab 2
Lab 2: PC Part Identification Individual Lab
Lab Objective:
Through some research develop a basic concept of what goes into a PC to have a
framework in mind as the COMP4131 lectures begin in Week 2.
Labs 1 and 2 do not require the kit so they will allow time for everyone to obtain their kit
while applying some of the concepts we will see in the first COMP4131 lecture on
Computer Hardware. This lab can be completed without having had the lecture just by a
bit of googling.
For Lab 3 (in Week 3), you will need your COMP4131 Lab Kit

Complete the table on the next page using online research of current models. It doesn’t
have to be perfect but should show use of your lab period in researching the current
hardware available online.
This table is due as part of your Lab Report A which is a report based on Labs 1,2, and
3 and will be due in Week 4.

If you really wanted to assemble your own gaming rig this process could and should
take many hours of research before you put out a lot of money. I am not expecting
weeks of research, but an hour or more of concentrated effort to show that you know
where to start and have an idea of what these parts do within a system.
You can cut and paste this chart and write as much as you want in the sections of the
table
