DRAFT BYE LAW FOR NIGERIAN ASSOCIATION OF TECHNOLOGISTS IN

ENGINEERING (NATE)
SECTION 1: Eligibility to hold Office.
1.1. The corporate and financial up to date member that wants to vie for the post f
chairman of any of the council (NEC, ZEC, BEC and CEC) must have served
actively in that council for at least one tenure to understand how to pilot the affair
professionally.
1.2. For the position of president, only Deputy president, Vice presidents and National
General Secretary is allowed to contest.
1.3. For the position of Deputy president, only Vice presidents and National General
Secretary is allowed to contest.
1.4. . For the position of Vice presidents, only the sitting or past Chairman and National
Excos are allowed to contest.

1.5. For the position of National General Secretary, only Vice presidents and National
Excos is allowed to contest.

1.6. For the position of Branch Chairman, only corporate COREN registered members
who have served for at least one tenure in the branch/chapter council is allowed to
contest
SECTION 2: Eligibility to contest.
2.1. All candidates vying for any post in the NEC must financial up-to-date in good
standing.

2.2. The candidate must equally be financially up to date and active member of the
branch in good standing.
2.3. Interested candidate to contest for any post at any level (NEC, ZEC, BEC/CEC)
must have at least 75% attendance and participation to NATE Activities at all Level.
2.4. Any member vying for any national Executive council post and branch chairman
must be COREN registered.
2.5. Candidate must be screened and found proactive, dedicated, committed to NATE
activities in Branch and National, worthy and competent by the NATE electoral
board and stakeholders.
2.6. Candidates are eligible only if he/she is free of any criminal
SECTION 3. MEMBERSHIP ACTIVITIES
3.1. Request for chattering of any new branch/chapter n a Zone shall come from the
ZEC through VP to NEC for approval.
3.2. Any member that violate lay down rules and regulations as stated in the NATE
constitution shall face disciplinary actions.
3.3. Members shall discharge their responsibility as contained in the NATE constitution
and induction oath.
3.4. Executive members at any council level shall carry out duties if office as stipulated
in the NATE constitution.
3.5. Members shall enjoy all privileges and rights as stipulated in the NATE
constitution.
3.6. If any elected officer found wanting of oath of office, the Council of that candidate
shall submit their report in hierarchical order.
3.7. Official communication in NATE affairs shall be in hierarchical order
3.8. Distance /Millage shall be applied in sharing honorarium/allowance to officers
during NEC meetings National committee meetings/assignments, AGM and any
other trip approved by the NEC or National President.
3.9. The association name at CAC shall read “The Nigerian Association of
Technologists in Engineering (NATE)
3.10. The association shall register with CAC under companies and allied matters as
company.
3.11. Nate shall go into consultation work .
SECTION 4. MEMBERS WELFARE
4.1. The financially up to date National Executive Council member shall the entitled a
welfare package during Bereavement of a spouse, bereavement of child, bedridden, and
death, which shall attract a cash benefit of not less than (#100,000), (N50,000),
(#100,000) and (#150,000), respectively.
4.2. Any National Council member that dies in active service shall be cash of N250,000.
Only and association representation of at least 10 members.
SECTION 5. NATE OFFICIAL VEHICLE.
5.1.The National Secretariat shall provide official vehicle for office of the National
president and Vice president of every zone.

5.2.A two tenure National President is entitled to go with official vehicle at the end of
the second tenure.

5.3. A two tenure Vice President shall go with the used official vehicle at end of
tenure.

5.4.The official vehicles taken shall be replaced within one year in the office .
SECTION 6: EXECUTIVES PARTING GIFT
6.1. At the end of every tenure, the president and NEC shall prepare parting gift for all
elected National Executive members that will be equivalent to the 150% of
prevailing exam fee of a corporate member for the President, 100% for the Deputy
president, Vice presidents and General Secretary and 60% for other NEC members
apart from plagues and certifications.
6.2..Past presidents, Deputy Presidents, Vice Presidents, and General secretaries shall be
recognized and accommodated during National Annual Conference and AGM
SECTION 7; MEMBERSHIP EXAM
7.1. Exam. rebate to the zone shall be 10% of the exam fee and 40% of the zonal rebate shall go
the branch/chapter of the candidate.
7.2. It is only the vice president that sends exam report to the national secretariat after each exam.
7.3. Election letters shall be sent to all candidates that sit for exam immediately after Council
approval.
