Exercise 4-5

Household Resource Management

HUMAND AND NON-HUMAN RESOURCES

INTRODUCTION

A good manager needs to understand the characteristics of resources in order to become skillful
in resource use. In managing the home we need to be more keen in using resources since our
resources are limited. If one keeps using a resource for one purpose, it will be used up and
not be available for another purpose. This certainly true for time and money. Whatever the
limitations are in resources, recognizing the limitations is important in order to use them in
management.
Since resources are interchangeable, we must understand that a single resource can often be
used for more than one purpose. Resources have alternate uses and one can be substituted for
another, each person can manage to balance his use of resources in his own way.
We can better achieve our purposes with the resources we have if we learn to balance the
use of our resources
