■ Information technology is the technology that uses computing with high speed communication links to
spread information from one place to another.

■ Computer is a very important component of information technology.

■ The world has become "global village" due to advancement in IT.

Students will complete assignments and projects in IT careers, digital media, hardware &
operating systems, communications & networks, software development, databases, and new &
emerging technologies.

Computer technology

1. Computer is an electronics machine operating under the control of instruction stored in its
memory unit that can

- accept data (inputs)

- process data arithmetically and logically

- produce results ( outputs)

Data

■Data is a collection of unorganized facts, which include words numbers, images, and sounds.
Computer process data to create information.

Information

Information is data that is organized, has meaning and is useful.

Example: reports, newsletters, and invoice check.itc..

Terms of computer

I) Input - The data entered into a computer

II) Output - The process results

III) Storage - a place whereas a computer hold data and information for future use.

IV) User - a person that communicate with computer

V) Hardware - the electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment

VI) Software - is the series of instruction that tells the hardware how to perform tasks

Types of computer
There are four types of computer
■Super computer
- the most powerful type of computer.
■ Mainframe computer
- need specially wired air Condition rooms.
■ Minicomputer
- are repregerator sized machines. Medium sized companies of departments of large componized
always use them for specific purposes.
■Microcomputer
- The least powerful, yet the most widely. Used and fastest growing, type of microcomputers
