What we all think as false rather than what we think is true.


We feel pity towards animals because of our dislike of pain and suffering. Away from pain, then towards
pleasure.
There must be a sort of standard of moral judgements something that is not subjective nor relative.
Moral judgements are not like personal taste or preference.
Moral judgements need to be defended, justified, validated.
Moral judgements should not be based on cultural mores. Reject cultural relativism.
We do not defend moral judgements using cultural anthropology.
Moral judgements should be defended independently of what any God says or wills.

It is wrong to treat other human beings with weaker or lacking in human intelligence as test subjects in
laboratories. Hence, it cannot be rational to treat animals as if they are tools or test subjects. Darwin states
that human differ in degree with other animals not in kind.

Non-human animals
All animals…Right to be treated with respect!

Human rights place justified limits on what people are free to do to one another.
The rights of individual “trump” the collective interest.

Natural moral rights are inherent, natural, not created. Right to bodily integrity, life, respect and
treatment.
Tom Regan focuses on negative moral rights.
Positive moral rights benefits and assistance
Negative moral rights from harm and disrespectful treatment.
The most important is knowing what is false rather than what is true.
Its more important to be not harmed than to be helped.
Like the old saying prevention is better than cure.
