Benzon]
ALL: And we are your tour guide for today!
CRISTY: Now, are you guys excited to discover the interesting beauty of Turtle Island?
Well, sit back and relax, and without further ado, let us explore the mesmerizing beauty
and discover the pretty mysterious island that is located somewhere here in Calbayog
Samar, the Turtle Island!
BODY
KEN: “Isla Pawikan” or the Turtle Island is a natural attraction here in Calbayog that can
be specifically found on the northern part of Binaliw on the Samar Sea. Due to its
shape, it forms like a turtle and so the island was called, and according to the locals,
there are sea turtles observed on the island. The Isla Pawikan was assessed by the
divers and passed the first assessment as a potential diving site in Calbayog City.
BENZON: The Turtle Island is a magical island resembling a giant sea turtle.
Underwater wonders and untouched corals, white pebbles, and sea shells. It’s a
magical underwater world worth exploring. Other people call this Pawikan Islet since it is
only a small island, roughly 1 hectare in area, and is made of huge rocks surrounding its
coasts and a hill covered in vegetation. Together, these make the small island look like
the back of a turtle.
KEN: Turtle Island is one of the famous tourist spots here in Calbayog City. It is part of
the Malagog loop or one of the fun activities that you can do within Malajog Calbayog. It
is specifically located in the northern sea part of Barangay Binaliw Calbayog Samar,
between Barangay Maguinoo and Barangay Baay. To reach the barangay you can take
public transportation if you are a commuter like AMOEC, Calmoda, or some tricycles or
“timbol”. If you have you have your vehicles like automobiles then that’s better. After you
reach Barangay Binaliw, from afar you can already see the island, and for you to reach
that island you have to take a ride on a motorboat or the term that the locals use which
is “baluto” for about 10-15 minutes.
BENZON: Pawikan Islet bears a striking resemblance to a turtle breaking the surface of
the water to breathe. Not only the islet itself that makes it exciting to visit but also the
activities that you can do while you are here. If you’re the type of person who loves
nature then this place is perfect for you. Currently, you can find cottages to stay at and
access points to various points in the islet. You can walk around with the stairs, steps,
and paths made for accessibility. Finally, the turtle rests atop an underwater trove of
natural treasures. Once you reach the island you can hike right through the top and
enjoy the lovely scenery, the whole island is surrounded by blue crystalized water while
feeling the wind and from afar you can see the beauty of the other islands as well.
KEN: Just as we stated a while ago, Isla Pawikan was known for snorkeling and diving
because underneath this island you can see the beautiful and mesmerizing beauty of
the aquamarine life such as the corals, different species of fish, and other sea animals.
It is steadily developed with amenities and accommodations and is continuously being
explored for snorkeling and diving. Dive into the clear waters and descend into the
depths to witness a thriving marine life. There is a healthy variety of sea corals, many
types of sea shells, and ornamental aquamarine species. All of these wonders can be
accessed at around 40 to 50 meters below sea level. So if you’re the type of person
who enjoys this type of activity, then this place is perfect for you.
