Assignment: A Place to Visit

Tumimbang, Hymar Vann D.

BSCE – TH

If given the opportunity to travel around the country, what specific place would you like to
visit? Why?

Palawan

If I had the opportunity to travel around the country, I would visit the Province of
Palawan, which was once regarded as the best island on the world. The beautiful azure waters
and white sand beaches there left me speechless. Beaches can be found almost anywhere in
this area.

When people think of Palawan, they think of three places: Puerto Princesa, Coron, and
El Nido. We all know why these are the three most iconic tourist attractions in the beautiful
archipelagic province of Palawan. From lagoons to caves to Palawan's vibrant coral reefs, they
are rich in natural beauty. I've wanted to visit Palawan Island ever since I first saw the place in
the television.

The first thing I want to do when I get there is explore the underground river. The
Underground River National Park in Puerto Princesa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in
Palawan. This revelation surprised me because it is the world's second-longest navigable
subterranean river. We should ride a small boat into the cave, which I had never done before,
with an allocated guide who will teach us more about the river and its stunning stalagmite and
stalactite formations. For me, this would be a lot of fun, but also a very relaxing activity.

The freshly discovered Pupunton Waterfalls in Bacungan, Palawan, are one of the things
that has caught my attention. Tourists are invited to swim in the tranquil natural pools created
by the beautiful waterfall. This would be a fun event for me because I've never bathed under a
natural waterfall. After that, I'd visit Puerto Princesa Talaudyong and Nagtabon beaches.
Tourists can go surfing there, and while I'm not a surfer, I'd want to see people having fun
surfing, swimming, and picnicking. These beaches are quieter than most and offer excellent
views of the sunset. I'd love to experience a peaceful moment like this.
Another thing that would be enjoyable is life underwater. I have always wanted to
witness the stunning marine species and vibrantly colored corals. The best place for that would
be in Puerto Princesa City Bay and Turtle Bay located in the province of Palawan. Divers in these
areas are said to be able to see a variety of marine species. These sites are also suitable for
novice divers, such as myself. Talisay Beach, on the other hand, is another peaceful location
where you can snorkel and observe the beautiful marine biodiversity. Sea urchins, starfish, coral
reefs, turtles, and a variety of other colorful fish species can all be found here. This will elevate
our mood and take our ocean adventure experience to a whole new level.

Exploring is one of my favorite activities, particularly on islands I've never been before.
While viewing a travel show, the famous islands of El Nido caught my attention, and I dreamed
about visiting them as well. The Helicopter Island is the first. The term "Helicopter Island"
comes from the peculiar rock formations that give the impression that the island is shaped like
a helicopter. Isn't it intriguing? The limestone cliffs on this island are stunning, and they're
bordered by dark green rainforests. Helicopter Island also offers white beaches and a tranquil
environment, making it a great site for me to relax and watch the waves while eating a quick
lunch.

Two other islands worth visiting are Dilumacad and Matinloc. Matinloc is more than just
a coastal town. The shrine is steeped in local tradition and history, and locals refer to it as a
spiritual oasis. A guide is actually needed in order to understand everything there is to know.

One of my favorite hobbies is photography. If I had the chance to visit Palawan, I will go
to the Enchanting Lagoons, which are located on Miniloc Island that showcase three
magnificent lagoons with the cleanest water you've ever seen. The three lagoons are known as
Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon, and Hidden Lagoon. These lagoons are filled with dazzling water,
limestone formations, and secluded locations where you may swim while taking in the stunning
views. As you pass down a small tunnel, the Hidden Lagoon will unveil a hidden sanctuary with
crystal blue water, giving you an otherworldly experience, which makes me extremely curious
as to what it is in person. This is something I can't afford to overlook.

Another popular snorkeling spot is the Siete Pecados Marine Park in Coron. This oasis is
a protected region where a variety of native marine life can be found. Swimming at Siete
Pecados is like diving into a magnificent aquarium with brilliant colors and a variety of schools
of fish. Few snorkeling spots in Palawan compare to Siete Pecados, therefore it's dubbed a
"snorkeling haven" by many. Underwater, the Skeleton Wreck can be seen. This would be a
fascinating sight to behold. I'm curious as to how it was preserved. It's a WWII relic of a
Japanese shipwreck which is very interesting since I always love adventure and history. When
diving, you'll notice a ship covered in sea creatures and inhabited by several fish species. Many
people advocate visiting the Malwawey Reef and the Coral Garden in addition to this shipwreck
sight. These underwater places will allow you to see a wider range of Coron's corals. Each of
these locations has such diverse marine life that no two are alike.

People keep coming back to Palawan after touring the islands of Coron. Coron is
surrounded by picture-perfect bodies of water and lush greenery islands. Kayangan Lake
illustrates this. With 70 percent fresh water and 30% salt water, this lake is known as the
cleanest in the Philippines. The Tagbanue Tribesmen take very good care of the beautiful
limestone cliffs that surround Kayangan Lake. This is a place where mother nature thrives, and
we can say that we're all lucky that tourists can snorkel and swim here.

Finally, I want to go to the Twin Lagoons, where you may swim in blue-green seas. A
wonderful backdrop for your family and group shots when you combine the rocky cliff sides
with the beautiful blue sky, what could I ask for more? The Coron Youth Club Beach is also a
great place for traveling families and friends to hang out. This is a small island with clean white
sand, rock formations, and even mangrove trees where you can stop and capture the most
amazing images. Isn't it amazing? It's a perfect spot to rest and relax in the middle of island-
hopping outing; some visitors even come there to sunbathe and get a tan.
