Napaling Point, or Napaling Reef as it is more well known, was previously a hidden gem
that not even the locals knew about. Napaling is now the most frequented dive site on
Panglao Island, bustling with local and international visitors.

One of the primary reasons Napaling has become so famous is that the reef begins only
about 8 meters from shore. The drop-off and reef are located in Tangnan, Panglao,
Bohol.

This is an excellent location for both scuba and free divers. Very quickly after leaving the
shore, you'll reach depth; a 25-meter drop-off appears only a few kicks out. The steep
wall attracts scuba divers because of the many caverns and crevices it has. Divers will
be delighted to know that sardine shoals may be seen nearly all year round. There are
plenty of fish, and vibrant corals flourish there.

Freedivers share the same enthusiasm for reef exploration as scuba divers. Every level
of freediver, from rookies to veterans, will have a great time on the steep wall. In the
beginning, the wall is just around three meters deep, but it quickly drops to well over
twenty-five. As divers swim through the water, they can see schools of fish darting in
and out of the gorgeous corals, frolicking in the currents and interacting with one other
and the other marine life.

It should come as no surprise, then, that Napaling has hosted numerous depth
championships over the years.

Napaling reef is an incredibly long and stunning reef that runs for hundreds of meters.
About fifty meters of the high-activity area where the Bohol sardines generally gather
and where snorkelers and divers hang out to see the amazing show have been roped
off.

And even when people cliff dive directly into the shoal of sardines, the sardines don't
seem to mind. The sardines have become more cautious due to the presence of
predators outside the reef. On top of the main attraction, there are also frequent and
highly anticipated guest appearances. Green sea turtles congregate along the wall to
sunbathe and eat the algae that grows there.

Rays can also be seen cruising the area. And it’s not only manta rays that approach
freedivers in Napaling point. Whale sharks are frequent visitors or the reef and drop-off
too. Even one time, a juvenile whale shark hung out for an hour with freedivers,
stopping them from training and indulging in playing with them. All of the freedivers had
a fantastic experience.
