Will AI Replace Human programmer

AI(Artificial Intelligence) systems currently have been meticulously crafted for the
purpose of processing extensive volumes of data, identifying recurring patterns, and
subsequently generating predictions rooted in the information they have processed. While
Artificial Intelligence(AI) may have the capability to replace traditional programmers in
Indonesia, it is not entirely possible. These possibility that AI will replace human programmers
in Indonesia is important to review, it's crucial for raising awareness, and developing solutions.
By discussing these issues now, we can develop policies and strategies to mitigate negative
impacts and ensure everyone benefits from AI. AI may provide code that is needed by humans to
help humans in maintaining their productivity in doing programming stuff, but it may not replace
those traditional Indonesian programmers. Reffering to Mario Ray Mahardika, an indonesian
programmer in SIRCLO argued in a quora question about this replacement of human
programmers by AI that “Berapa software developer yang tergantikan sama dia sejak saat itu
sampe saat ini?. Yang ada, AI kita manfaatkan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas software
developer.” He means that while AI may make impressive changes, there is no evidence that AI
will replace software developers, instead AI helps developers maintain productivity and explore
new problems in the field. As a student who participates in the discourse surrounding this
significant issue, we discovered ourself encouraged in the exploration of this matter, it would be
the "NO" that AI could completely replace a human in programming. A balanced conversation
about AI can ensure its use for good.

It has been argued that in fact, today's AI is more of a tool to help human work. If you
want to create an AI with the aim of replacing human work, it must be developed in such a way
(customized) according to the purpose for which it was developed for some tasks that tend to be
simple, such as website building, and some things that are not too complex will help human
accommodate those coding with the AI tool. AI can take part in some aspects of programming,
and the role of humans in designing, making important decisions, and interacting with partners
remains irreplaceable. The combination of AI and human capabilities is the most effective
approach in complex software development. Some people may say that AI might eventually
advance to the point where it can be beyond its current capabilities, reaching a stage where AI
matches the full cognitive powers of the human brain will undoubtedly be a gradual and time-
consuming process. However, Artificial Intelligence (AI) right now faces limitations in its
capacity to new developments at the moment. Its progress is predominantly dependent on
fundamental algorithms. Consequently, AI is currently best suited for assisting with tasks that
involve complex challenges such as hard remembering.

Based on the Indonesian technology community that houses a programmers with varying
levels of expertise, from beginners to seasoned experts, as articulated by Alvalen, said “And Chat
GPTs are just LLMs that contain a bunch of data that already exists to be processed. Laypeople
who claim to be able to code are like people just learning a language who only read a dictionary,
while programmers already understand grammar, how to write code correctly, best practices,
optimization and so on.” So, it is discernible that AI is unlike humans that can create AI, AI can
do anything by itself, it's just a machine containing a bunch of data that already exists to be
processed.

Therefore, based on the explanation, AI currently will not replace the role of
programmers as a whole, Instead it can help make routine tasks like testing and debugging easier.
Furthermore, it's possible that AI might eventually advance to the point where it can be beyond
its current capabilities, reaching a stage where AI matches the full cognitive powers of the human
brain, to sum it up, programmers are still needed to understand and create solutions for further
more complex problems and make critical decisions in application development.

It is found that AI tools like ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot are revolutionizing sectors like
software development and data science, offering benefits like task automation, bug fixes, and
code optimization. While AI may not replace programming in the future, its influence could
change developers roles and tasks. After all, collaboration between AI and programmers in
indonesia can simplify tasks. In Indonesia, AI technologies enable long-term economic growth,
as referred to in SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth," as well as employment creation
and poverty reduction in SDG 1, No Poverty”.

In Conclusion, AI actually has the potential to replace human roles in certain jobs. The
only drawback is that this AI has to be commanded by humans (in the form of prompts). They
don't have instincts and initiative like humans, which are important in making decisions.
