Stage 3: Evaluation
Section 1: Investigation outline
Motivation is extremely important for all universities. If universities do not have care to the
students’ motivation, it will have negative effect for the university and result to low academic
performance and decline in students’ marks. Therefore, this research stated the effect of
motivation to the University of Stirling, RAK, and its students. The subject was investigated using
both primary and secondary sources, and the data gathered was utilized to assess how student
motivation at the University of Stirling, RAK, affected overall academic performance.

Section 2: Meeting objectives

My first draft in objectives were:

- To explore various strategies for improving academic performance that will be
advantageous to both students and the university.
- To compare graduation rates and put policies into place to help raise graduation rates for
students.
- To offer suggestions on how they might enhance the educational performance that they
can offer to their students.

Due to the short time allotted for research, these goals were altered. Since this is my first attempt
at conducting research, it will be difficult for me to fulfil these goals. As a result, my research
supervisor assisted change these goals in a way that is possible for me. New objectives are listed
below.
 To determine the degree of motivation among students at the University of Stirling, RAK.
This was accomplished since the distributed survey identifies the current level of student
motivation at the University of Stirling, RAK. I can infer from the outcome that the
student's level of motivation is currently above average.

 To evaluate the impact of student motivation and academic performance at University of

Stirling, RAK.
This was met since I evaluated the impact of student motivation that University of Stirling,
RAK was providing.

 To make suggestions on how to improve overall academic performance at the University

of Stirling, RAK, emphasizing the significance of student motivation.
This was accomplished because, using data from both my primary and secondary sources,
I made suggestions for how the University of Stirling, RAK might further improve its
approach to student motivation.
When I rewrote it and took my research supervisor's advice, I was able to accomplish all my
objectives. My task became simpler when the objectives were changed.
Section 3: Effectiveness of the planning and developing stages.
 Effectiveness of the Brief
The initial personal evaluation that was done at the start was successful. I am aware of my
strengths and areas for development. Having a proper title assisted me in determining what
areas of research should be prioritized. Additionally, having a clear definition of the
problem that needs to be investigated allowed me to concentrate on the crucial details and
make suggestions that will benefit the University of Stirling, RAK, and other colleges and
universities. The fact that my supervisor assisted me in adjusting the objectives is a good
thing because they worked for me. The reason for the choice of the issue was successful
since it is an ongoing problem that affects every firm. The initial personal evaluation that

that my supervisor assisted me in adjusting the objectives is a good thing because they
worked for me. The reason for the choice of the issue was successful since it is an ongoing
problem that affects every firm. Because it is a university where I am presently studying,
the organization I chose also worked. Since I only had a limited amount of time to collect
surveys for the University of Stirling, RAK students, I can tell that the primary source did
not work well for me. However, secondary sources were useful to me because many
literary works contain plenty of details that I could use. Finally, once my teacher and I
made revisions, the description of how the investigation will be overseen was successful. It
simplifies my work and aids in maintaining my attention on the objectives.

 Effectiveness of the Planning

Having a plan was not that effective since I was not able to follow the negotiated dates,
interim, and timescales. However, the identification of resources needed for me to do the
investigation worked in a way that is easily accessible for the students at the University of
Stirling, RAK.

 Effectiveness of the development report

The overview of the University of Stirling, RAK in this research has worked since all the
important information I needed was present on their website and others came from primary
sources. The Conceptual Framework was difficult for me because I had never done
something similar. Still, it was an excellent learning opportunity that further developed my
skills in creating and conducting research. Gathering information from my survey was
challenging since time is limited but I believe that I have produced a good outcome even
though my respondents are few compared to others. Assessing the implications that I have
found out worked since I have gathered primary and secondary source information that
enabled me to meet the target objectives and purpose of this research. Lastly, concluding
and recommending information to the University of Stirling, RAK also worked because
the information that I have gathered is relevant and will be helpful not just to the
University of Stirling, RAK but to any university in general.

Section 4: Assessment of the primary and secondary sources

In the primary source, I would say that there was gender bias. Because, of the twenty-four
respondents, I can say that there on gender part all the respondents (15) were male, and only a
few (5) were female. Therefore, there were biases in this part. In the age part, there were biases
since most of the respondents (18) belong to the age group of 19-21 years old. There were only
a few respondents in the different age groups. Lastly, most of the respondents are students,
which is satisfactory since student motivation and academic performance is the one being
measured. Hence, I can say that there is some bias in the gender and age parts.

In secondary source, information from (Duncan & Pintrich, 1996) & (Ali et al., 2014) are
reliable information since they tell that more motivated students try to be present in class and
focus on their course content which is reflected in their grades than students who are
unmotivated and have an unwillingness to engage or try in class. This has a connection to the
primary source since most of the respondents said they are unsatisfied with the effectiveness of
the teaching they are receiving.

Section 5: Assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of your report

The strength of my report was finding out variables needed for student motivation and academic
performance and concluding it a positive co-relationship. One of the variables is students’
attitude towards learning. Also, while reading the literature review, I have found out that most
variables in testing student motivation focused on students' opinions of the classroom
environment as well as their self-related views, such as values, personal objectives, and self-
efficacy and given that this plays a significant role in student motivation this was used as a
variable. It can also be used by other organizations in that sector in evaluating their motivation
for their performance. The weakness of my report was the few respondents that have hindered
me in getting equal distribution from different demographics and I have focused only on one
organization that focuses on one education sector.
Section 6: Recommendations for future investigations

I have used skills that I have gained in me during my studies in this research. I have used my
communication skills with others in getting primary resources. I also have used time management
which helped me to not be pressured whenever the due date is near. I also have used self-
awareness in sections that I cannot understand and asked my teacher about it, who has more
knowledge about this. This topic can be helpful and be used and tested in other organizations to
see if these same issues that the University of Stirling, RAK has been relevant to theirs. This
would help me to compare similarities and challenges.

About the timescale, I can say that the research will be more detailed and have more
information if there is more time given. I can also reach out to more students to have a lot of
primary sources that I can compare. Further, this research was conducted only at the University of
Stirling, RAK. If there is a lot of time given, I can reach out to other organizations or branches
that are in the same sector.

Section 7: Assessment of new skills and knowledge gained.

I used my ability to work under pressure and I am now more confident that I will do well even
though there is pressure. I think that my understanding and analysis of the given problem at hand
have been improved. I learned to analyse information with deeper insight. I used my
communication skills to the survey that I handed out to the University of Stirling, RAK Students. I
used my teamwork skills when my peers are asking for help from me. Further, my impact and
confidence have become much better. I used my time management skills in doing tasks. I used my
skills in numerical interpretation when interpreting and analysing the handed-out survey. The new
knowledge I have gained about Managing People and Organization is that I learned knowledge on
how organizations managed their kept their people motivated. It taught me that students need to
be taken care of by the universities to succeed.
