“I had to think of Emily,” Hand said. “She already lost her mother, I couldn’t risk her losing her father too.”
Hand had come to Be’eri 30 years ago as a volunteer, planning to stay for just a few months — but he
never left.
After his wife, Emily’s mother, died of cancer a few years ago, he and Emily were living on their own.
He described his daughter as the tallest in her class, and a talented dancer and singer.

As weird as it sounds, I see his point. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing my
aughter is somewhere being tortured and I couldn't do anything to save her. My heart goes
to him. May she rest in peace.

do hope her death was quick. Sounds weird saying that, but, considering the alternative,
