BUS TERMINAL AT GRAND BAIE

 Present Scenario
At the moment, buses are currently reversing along the main road at Grand Baie near the
Football Ground (opposite Store 2000) which is located near a bend. Currently, this is a serious
road safety problem which will be eliminated with the forthcoming project.
 Project Scope
This project relates to the construction of 8 Nos. Bus holding Area/layby for buses as well as a
turning point for buses near Grand Baie Football Playground
The estimated project value is 18 M (incl. VAT) and the duration of the works is around 3
months.

 Land Acquisition Constraints

The land over which it has been proposed to construct the bus Terminal is State Land part of
which has been leased for industrial purposes (New Mauritius Hotels Limited).

The Ministry of Land Transport & Light Rail has requested the Ministry of Housing & Land Use
Planning to vest the said portion of land of the extent of 3133m2 in their Ministry in letter dated
30/08/2023.

To proceed with vesting:

Option 1:

 As per lease agreement Government can resume whole/any part of land at any time on
giving 6 months prior notice against payment of compensation as assess by Valuation
Department.

Option 2:

 To negotiate with the Hotel and request them to release the said plot of State Land.
 The State land to be excised from the land leased.
 The lease agreement to be amended (proposed it at GOV COST)
 The rent to be revised accordingly as portion of land has been excised.
