Break away:

1. when you break away from a group, you stop being part of it, for example because of a
disagreement. You separate.
2. If you break away from a belief or a habit, you reject it.
3. If a part of something breaks away, It separates and moves away.

Break down:

1. when an arrangement, plan or discussion breaks down, it fails because of a problem or

disagreement
2. when a machine or a vehicle breaks down, it stops working.
3. If someone breaks down, they start crying or laughing uncontrollably. They become
very depressed and ill because they cannot cope with their problems.
