Introduction/Foreword

Reading Intervention Module 2 is a series of reading activities


for learner who has difficulty in reading. San Jose National High
School English Teachers of Puerto Princesa City DepEd worked
together to write a series for learners who needs reading
remediation. The series is made based on the needed reading
remediation to help struggling reader.

Reading activities are designed to improve reading fluency


and comprehension skills among Junior High School learners; that
is, learners are provided with several word examples to read from
which they can improve reading skills. All word examples in each
activity were carefully chosen from the teaching experience of the
author. Every activity is arranged such that each activity prepares
the reader for the next level of module.

The author feels that a solid foundation in basic reading skills


is a must for one to become a competent reader. And with the help
of this Reading Intervention Module, the author hopes that reading
will be meaningful for the reader.

Bridge 2 PHONICS

Objectives:

At the end of this module, the reader should be able to:


a. recognize vowel sounds in the beginning, middle and end of the word,
b. say properly the sound of the vowel letters, and
c. read words correctly.

Instructions (Teacher)

The teacher asks the learner to see the letter and says the sound it
represents, guides the learner on how to properly say the word, and have them
read the words several times. Please be reminded that teaching Phonics is very
important to improve the accuracy of learner’s reading.

Directions: Listen to your teacher as he/she reads the word and after you
learn on how to read the word, try to read it aloud by yourself.
